A question for Kentucky residents.
How did Rand Paul win an election?

He is not only an embarrassment to your fine state, he's an embarrassment to the United States. After watching him babble about HCR, I have to wonder what planet he's from.

Can you get rid of him please?

2. Remember that they had Bunting before Paul. One circus clown replaced another.
The democratic candidate against Paul did not help matter with his silly "Aqua Buddha" ads.

3. Conway failed to resonate with the people. Mongiardo would have had a better chance. nt

4. I think it came down to two things...

Conway was doing very well until that stupid commercial about Paul's college days. His internal pollings were quite good before that ad and his stumbling over the explanation for such a stupid move hurt him with his supporters. That said, once again, people were fooled by the rhetoric of the right. A very close friend of mine who is a Democrat gets caught up in the 'we have to run the government like a business crap. They have put such fear in people who don't understand the dynamics of government, and when people fear, they don't think. I am sick about this bastard being my senator.

However, to the poster who said Mongiardo would have been a better candidate. No way...I saw him debate Conway...dull, boring, uninformed, and testy. Oh..wait that describes Paul. Conway's biggest problem, he was green...he really improved during the campaign until that ad...but he wasn't a seasoned candidate. He is, however, a smart guy who had been a very effective Attorney General who had a lousy campaign staff.

Bunning won because of his baseball reputation (he was jerk there as well), but Paul won out of fear and lack of knowledge.

Crap....

Edited for misspelling Mongiardo's name...

5. Mongiardo was not getting my vote.
Jack overplayed the social conservative bullcrap and got off message. It was going to be close because we have a ton of yahoos but he had a realistic shot. Rand Paul is an ass and a kook, Conway pushed a bunch of out of style nonsense that appeals to neither the liberals nor liberals

6. not a Kentucky resident but I can tell you why
Aqua Buddha ad (Youtube it). I was a staffer in Jack Conway's race last year and I can tell you firsthand the effect of that ad.

7. Kentucky has a long history of electing dipshits.
I have a lot of family and friends there. My uncle for instance -hated Bush. Hated. But he'd never admit to voting republican despite that his racist and sexist beliefs would coincide otherwise. I was just there a couple weeks ago, and my dad's friends were openly talking about going to his policy luncheon, and I had to literally bite my tongue to keep from pointing out how much of a douchebag he is.
