Will the GOP Become R.I.P.??
Rove is scared and frantic. You can smell it on him. He and the GOP figured the new Tea Brigade would fall in and march to their drummer boy. Instead they got a band of raging lunatics and Cantor appointing himself as their messiah, kicking the bar stool out from under Boehner. BUT, here's what the real fear is:

With all their money, they and their rich friends can't get a candidate for prez to pass the lunatic test AND get elected...and that has THIRD PARTY written all over it. They cannot bring these two parts back together again (this is what you get when you have been whipping up masses for decades using 'wink, wink' politics--they are now uncontrollable). Neither part is going away. It can only end in a third party. The fight will rage throughout the country for all elected offices, splitting up the vote, and the Dems will go back to ruling for 50 years.

1. By all rights they should have been dead after Bush
But our party has just enough conservatives in it to want to help them stay alive, so I doubt they will die this time either.

3. Encourage them
...now get off your duff, go out and find the nearest Teabagger, lick their ear, and whisper to them "you are soooo wonderful that you really should make this magnificent movement into a party all it's own"! (You are right about "our own"...but they wouldn't be able to stop split votes all over the country)!

2. No, they're far from dead
This is the party that caused the Great Depression in 1929, and then soon embraced Hitler & Mussolini in Europe in the 1930s. If that didn't kill them, not being able to find a presidential candidate in May of 2011 isn't going to kill them, either.

However, it's nice to see them struggle a bit.

4. Wishful thinking. People thought that after Johnson overwhelmed Goldwater,
after Nixon was humiliated, etc. etc.

They always come back. And each time, they're worse.

7. I'm 66 and
I haven't seen anything like this in all my adult years. They would have factions and fights BUT this is "suicide" bombers on a mission. Big BOOM....

9. The Governors trying to re-engineer their States are on a suicide mission
and hoping to fend off the tide in 2012 but they will fail.

12. Dain---RIGHT
These shitbags have not gained support; they have lost it and will not hold on in 2012. There is going to be a massive attack on them (and Medicare issue doesn't help)in 2012. They have lost workers, the elderly and everybody whose name isn't Koch. My grandma (born in 1872)was a Koch----unfortunately she pronounced it differently and there was no money with the title!..damn...

Don't discount what they can do. The newspapers are endorsing their bullshit message right now.

13. If that were to happen, the almost-sane Rs would migrate to the D party
and destroy it (further) from within.

15. Within 10 years they will be done
simply due to demographic changes. That doesn't mean conservatism will be dead, there will still be plenty of conservadems and that will be the real fight in coming years, but the GOP is grasping at straws and I expect they will be in for a rude awakening in 2012.

As long as the democratic party maintains what little popularity it has and doesn't get embroiled in any major scandals, we will have a permanent democratic majority for many years to come.

18. Rush and Faux Noise have other plans...
Plus, there are too many moneyed men for that to happen. If voters seem to be drifting away, they'll merely (overtly and covertly) buy their loyalty back.

conservatives who Rove, Gingrich and Ralph Reed played like a violin.
