Disney Trademarks Name Of Navy Seal Unit That Killed Bin Laden
http://www.deadline.com/2011/05/disney-trademarks-name-of-navy-seal-unit-that-killed-bin-laden

"FishbowlNY uncovered three trademark applications that Disney made in early May to claim the rights to the phrase "SEAL Team 6" covering "entertainment and education services," "toys, games and playthings" and "clothing, footwear and headwear.""

HOW MUCH DID WE MAKE THEM PAY FOR THE RIGHTS?

2. Does Not Sound Proper Since Disney Is Not Financially Poor...
If anything that $$$ should go directly to the VA hospitals to care for our injured, housing etc. IF there was any left over it should go for equipment to prevent even more injuries in combat. It should not go into corporate pockets for THEIR financial gain.

4. It shouldn't be granted to them at all. Navy Seals is a special branch of the US Military.
How they can get away with trying to patent that name. ARG!

7. It seems like the articles I've been reading all say that the unit isn't really called Seal Team 6,
that the real name is secret, and the actual Seal Team 6 was disbanded a long time ago. So it could be an interesting argument, in a technical sense.

That said, really dumb move by Disney (assuming it's not a prank)...

5. And none of this crap will be made here. It will all be stamped "Made in China," which is the
highest form of patriotic display known to our great nation.

9. If this is true, then they're several years too late
since Star Trek famously got there first, for 'entertainment services' - and confused German TV with their "SEALS TEAM VI" logo:

http://trekmovie.com/2011/05/06/geman-tv-fail-star-treks-maquis-not-involved-in-bin-laden-mission/

A quick search of the Patent Office site doesn't turn up the claimed application.

11. I hope no one minds if I reuse a post of mine from elsewhere.
I posted this on the same story at Fark.com.

"They're Seals, you should be able to see where they are going with this. An elite band lead by the cagey old Walrus, the valley girl California Sea Lion who is sweet yet deadly, the Brown Fur seal who is the boy next door unwittingly drummed into service, with cameos by fur seals with names and types like Guadulupe, Australasian, Galapagos and cute little Pinniped.
They'll all be joined together to defeat the deadly yet zany Osama Bin Polar Bear. It'll be family fun for all ages!"

That does seem like Disney Corp. method of operation!

13. That is metaphor speech.
In that it has nothing to do with Bin Laden, but the concepts that are thought on about terror, fear, and perpetual war.

In that many of the stories from Disney spoke of better ideas.

And the mice help the lion in Wizard of Oz also, so what part doesn't make sense?

14. On the plus side they didn't have the chutzpah to try to patent bin Laden himself.
