Barbers Give Free Haircuts To Homeless

Tarek Kamal, a spokesperson for "Your Ummah," the organization that sponsored the event, said those who took part wanted to offer a service to the community.

Many of the barbers were from Fly Cuts & Styles, the salon outside which a young mother was gunned down. The woman was considered an innocent bystander in the shooting, not the target of the gunfire. Some of the stylists who gave free hair cuts Saturday said they were moved to do something to give back to the community that rallied around them after that shooting.

On Saturday, homeless residents sat waiting for the free grooming – which included manicures and eyebrow waxes – inside an empty warehouse adjacent to the Loaves and Fishes homeless shelter.
