Regulations... a four letter word for Republicans
and conservatives. Today, after talking to one on food prices and how industrial food policy is not sustainable (but it would be if we had LESS regulations, who cares if they pollute a little)... I came to the conclusion that at least this person is not familiar with what the term REGULATION means. Or for that matter, what Sustainable Development means.

And that... is the heart of the problem. We are NOT talking the same language... so even though we are using the same words, we are not working with the same concepts...

Just an observation on a Sunday afternoon...

1. They have ruined most words integrity, on purpose.
Now, they argue that if it FEELS true, it is. So, when so many people think Obama is a socialist, it is true. They want to make things true, if they say so often enough.

5. Yep... aproximate response
I do not believe like you do...

NO SCIENCE is not about feeling. And yes I ended the discussion with those exact words. SCIENCE IS NOT ABOUT FEELINGS.

The old one, you are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts did not come to me.

2. Thank Frank Luntz and the Thoughtmeisters......
They've pretty much screwed the meaning out of most of our language.

4. Yup. They are in a bubble with their derogatory buzz words like "liberal", "socialist", etc.

6. Here is a simple explanation
"Regulation" is a synonym for "law". If you are against "regulation" just for the sake of it, you are essentially an anarchist who doesn't believe in the rule of law.

We can have a discussion about which regulations work best and which don't, but to use the word "regulation" as if it is some evil anti-business term is straight up propaganda.

When you talk to them this is what happens in there minds.

They hear the start of your conversation till you get to a loaded word.

when they hear that word, they stop listening to you, and there mind hears the loaded stuff for that word.

So if you say, "Government should be regulated to avoid businesses doing what ever they want even if against the interest of society"

They hear "Government, they get in the way and want to take away freedom....... Buisness they create jobs and are strangled by government...... interest of society socialist that want to take away all the freedoms"

That is what goes through there minds.

That is why any conversation on a topic helps that topic, and why some groups make ridiculous claims to get topics in the news. Since all they need said is the loaded word, to repeat in there followers mind what they want them to hear. They need the parts of the brain activated often, so it will be the first thing grabbed by subconscious on a topic, and guide the creation of there thoughts on the issue.

Go talk to that person, after you say something, ask them to repeat what you said back to you, they probably wont be able to, becuase they never heard anything you said, they only heard what was programmed for each macro. And if they can repeat what you said, ask them to tell you what it means, they may not have ever thought about it, but you will find they will find a buzz word and insert a talking point, around that buzz point. You can make them think on it with a contradiction, but you have to keep them thinking on that point, since they will jump off it to another talking point to ignore the contradiction.

It is why they say there is no bad PR also.
