On global weather change....
part of the science includes the prediction for more unpredictable weather, worst storms and more frequent flooding.

So let's see.

So far two hundred year floods in five years... one in OH and now the current one.

The tornado break two weeks ago.

Weather is all crazy.

How many CAT 5 hurricanes oh SINCE Katrina?

Them are not supposed to be common.

So the hypothesis from the science SEEM to be proving to be real. YET... do NOT expect the media to connect those dots. That is NOT their job. They're still covering for others... aka the industry that has bought and paid for the fourth estate. Oh and given the comments of the Pauls regarding the government services during disasters, if that world view takes over the country politically... yep, go and build your own levies... roads et al. Science is also a non freedom producing thing.

1. I don't think this will be a heavy hurricane season
Its a La Nina year, which is colder then normal ocean off the coast of South America but that also generally means colder then normal oceans everywhere and Hurricanes don't form over cold water.

3. I don't know if was can say that for sure because
until the end of the 19th century there was no such thing as meteorology so there are no records to compare to today. I agree that there is something going on, but until we do far more research, we can not rule out that this is a natural process that is just accelerated by mankind.

4. We didn't measure earthquakes until the 1930s really either
and the current chart goes to the 1970s (Modified Richther Scale)

The reason why I mention this is we know a LOT about the atmosphere going back 10K and 20K and half a million years (Ice Cores) and we know this is real. The last 200 years the acceleration in the concentration of CO 2 is real... it matches the Industrial revolution almost to the decade.

What the hypothesis posited... (more wild weather) is proving to the be the case... as well as the moving northwards of the growing bands.

5. Two is missing some floods
There have been several devastating floods over the past five years. In particular are the one that hit Nashville last May and the massive flooding in ND and MN in 2009.

6. True, those were 100 year floods
And Pakistan was a 500 year flood... The ones in Mexico, 500 year floods.

Thanks for reminding me...

Oh and Poland. 100 year flood...

10. I almost forgot Quebec. There's some serious flooding there as well.

And then there's the dry areas, like Texas, that desperately need that water.

Yep, this is what Al Gore was talking about.

It's not just "global warming" it's global climate destabilization.

9. Are people researching this and publishing results? One could probably do it with
a really good computer and Google. Also, I think some of the current floods are 500 year or 1000 year floods. The trend is as Mr. Gore, et al, predicted.

12. If an area is having a 'hundred year' flood, and has not had a flood of
Edited on Mon May-16-11 03:07 PM by Obamanaut
such magnitude in say, approximately 100 years, does it seem a surprise when such a flood arrives?

Or a 300 year flood? When the last time such a flood occurred, was it approximately 300 years ago?

IIRC correctly, there were no named storms of hurricane strength that made landfall on the coast of the US last year. Does that mean we should expect more this year? I would not think so.

13. I just wanna know if Spring is ever going to come
The forecasters are all jazzed whenever the temperature is supposed to break 60, and it's the middle of frickin' May. DemoTex isn't going to have any fires to watch this summer.

14. Again part of that predicted pattern
as to the fires, he will... but the season might be shorter but more violent. That is what happened in Russia last year.
