Some odd Lincoln and Kennedy coincidences
Edited on Tue May-17-11 07:19 PM by Lorien

And one that they missed:

Abraham Lincoln’s son (Edward Barker Lincoln 1850) died while he served in the White House

John F Kennedy’s newborn son (Patrick Bouvier Kennedy 1963) died while he served in the White House

1. Interesting - one error
It was Willie Lincoln who died in the White House. Eddie died just short of 4 years old in 1850.

Neither was fully invested in civil rights at the time they took office, but both of them grew in their views greatly prior to their assassinations.

Some pretty interesting coincidences.

3. Snopes has quite a long article discussing these 'coincedences', some
of which are marginally true, others misleading.

4. Nixon had a dog named Checkers that died. Lincoln played checkers and he
once had a horse that died.

Stolen from a 45 that Don Pardo put out in the early seventies. it was riotously funny.

5. Both were well known for their oratory. Lincoln was born on the frontier. JFK's administration was
called the new frontier. Both had fathers they disagreed with. Both were replaced by successors who had served in the senate.
