Marine Survives Two Tours in Iraq, SWAT Kills Him
http://reason.com/blog/2011/05/16/marine-survives-two-tours-in-i
(clip)This is from Arizona Daily Star reporter Fernanda Echavarri's effort to piece together the death of Jose Guerena, 26, at the hands of a Pima County, Arizona SWAT team. Guerena, who joined the Marines in 2002 and served two tours in Iraq, was killed just after 9 a.m. May 5. Guerera had just gone to bed after working a 12-hour shift at a local mine when his home was invaded as part of a multi-house crackdown by sheriff's deputies.

(clip)
Tucson KGUN’s Joel Waldman says the SWAT team prevented paramedics from going to work on Guerena for one hour and fourteen minutes.

The sheriff’s department maintains that Guerena was holding an AR-15 when the paramilitary force fired 71 bullets in his home, but other key parts of the government story have collapsed. While PCSD initially claimed Guerena fired the weapon he was alleged to have been holding, the department now says it was a misfire by one of the deputies that caused this deadly group panic inside a home containing a woman and a toddler:

A deputy's bullet struck the side of the doorway, causing chips of wood to fall on his shield. That prompted some members of the team to think the deputy had been shot, O'Connor said.

4. It was, they were going to several houses in the neighborhood
reading more, looks like he'd just gone to bed after a 12 hour night shift when there was banging on the door and the door was kicked in. He responded by pulling out some type of gun shooting thingie and that was all he wrote.

Was up all night working, just went to bed. 2 tours in Iraq. Living in a neighborhood where there were druggies (hence the raid). Drug raid on several houses by SWAT team with bang on the door and enter procedure.

Sounds all messed up.

6. There's "druggies" *everywhere*..
Seriously, like many conservatives don't realize they know an actual gay person, lots of people who don't do drugs have no idea who they know that is doing illegal drugs.

10. So true. My old neighbor used to have a lot of "friends" dropping by
at odd hours and only staying 5 or 10 minutes. Once I saw a guy putting his wallet back in his pocket as he walked down the driveway. These people were all clean cut, casual business attire late 20's types.

bashing their way into your house? It is wrong

11. The wife has hired a high profile attorney
It seems completely effed up that he didn't get any medical attention for over an hour (hour and 14 minutes), and by then he had died. The attorney pledges to do a complete investigation of his own.

21. The search warrant was "served" at 9:40am,
Medics were on scene and a flight for life helicopter was put on alert about 9:44am.

SWAT would not allow any medical help for Guerena. After an hour and 14 minutes, they advised that no medical assistance was needed (Guerena had died.)
____________________

71 shots fired in 7 seconds. 60 hit their target. Guerena did not fire a shot and his gun still had the safety on. The wife is inside the house on the phone to 911 for about 10 minutes BEFORE the SWAT officers make entrance to the home. That's not normal is it? Don't they usually rush in and clear the home? What were they doing for 10 minutes? (documented by length of 911 call)

A lot of info has been withheld by Pima County Sheriff's office. I hope it's not something like a incorrect address/typo on search warrant.

14. The USSC has ruled that cops have "qualified immunity"
which shields them from liability. Disgusting. And I am told that I am to give sympathy to these bastards? :wtf:

17. From kicking in doors in Iraq to having his own door kicked in in Az.
Multi-house sweeps, armed & masked men, overuse of firepower. What goes around comes around.

Because Marines are inherently evil. As you say, it's karma.

24. Cops made paramedics wait 1 hour - 1 Hour! - before allowing them
access. Translation: the cops let the shooting victim 'bleed out' so they wouldn't have to answer as many questions.

What has this country come to?
