Chris Matthews made good point w/Bill Maher tonight on "Hardball"

Matthhews said (paraphrasing) "what if 9/11 happened on the democrats watch, and a republican president got Bin Laden, can you imagine how they'd spin that?"..

That's SO true...Republicans would be calling for a national holiday and airports/monuments to be re-named after the republican president who ordered a successful mission to kill Bin Laden...

Obama gets Bin Laden, and its like, that's nice, what have you done for me lately...

6. If Al Gore had been pres, he almost certainly would have been on top of things enough

that he would have prevented the attacks. I bet he still would have been investigated to the hilt, just for the fact of its "almost happening on his watch".

I know it's hard to make statements about alternate historical timelines, but Republican behavior (and Democratic complicity) is consistent enough that I think this very likely would have happened.

The double standards are so glaring that I'm surprised more people don't see it (even people in our own party).
