Meijer recalling 7,600 Katie Brown 12-piece tea light candle sets because of potential fire hazard

Meijer Inc. is recalling its Katie Brown 12-piece tea light candle sets because the clear plastic candle holder can ignite, posing a potential of serious burn and fire hazard to consumers, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced today.

There hasn't been any injuries or property damages reported related to the candle sets but Meijer has received one report of the resin cup catching fire and melting.

The Walker-based retailer sold about 7,600 of the $8 wax tea light candles made in India at its 195 stores in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana from October 2010 through March. The Katie Brown Simply at Meijer line of merchandise is sold exclusively at Meijer stores.

The two-inch wide candles in clear plastic holders that were sold in five different colors and scents: vanilla, spruce, snappy spice, sunny tuscany and sweet love.
