Various sources are reporting on parts of this study commissioned by . . . . wait for it . . . . the Catholic bishops.

I rarely comment on religion. I rarely comment on the priest scandals. But this one corked me. I am a long-non-practicing Catholic. I am not bitter about it in any way. I just never "got it" when it comes to religion.

Anyway, this report seems pretty lame to me. It also seems to me to minimize and actually disrespect the people who *were* abused.

But even as a practicing active Catholic, this seems to be a bit of a stretch for an explanation.

Overall, I can say that it is only a small contributing factor and it is mixed in with others.
