BREAKING: Democrat Alvin Brown appears to clinch Jacksonville, FL mayoral
He's now up by more than 1600 votes over (friend of Rick Scott) Mike Hogan (r)

These numbers are from the Supervisor of Elections office. Hogan's last three supporters closed his HQ today at 3pm and he has notbern seen. Democrat Alvin Brown has started his victory lap.

WOOHOO A FAIR COUNT IN FLORIDA!!!! Whoodathunkit?

1. Something to celebrate in Florida! Yay!
Will there be a recount? I read earlier today that a recount was virtually guaranteed.

4. So nobody's found several thousand "uncounted" ballots
yet that gives the Republican the win? Oh well, it's still early in the process. :sarcasm:

2. And Jacksonville is VERY Conservative.
Big city full of rednecks and ultra-religious types. My sis lives there.

I cannot stand to read their main newspaper.

3. You forgot to add that this is a "hickish" area.
Which makes this a major victory!

8. Who were you thinking?
Alvin Brown was an aide to Clinton. Beyond that I don't know much about him. Tell more if you know it.

7. Scott's chickens are just starting to come home to roost
He and the pug lege have become very unpopular. Balance will return in 2012. You could run for any office on the platform of opposing Scott, almost anywhere, and stand a good chance of winning.

Mike Hogan thought he was a shoo in. Use to live in J-ville years ago but now live on the outskirts. There hasn't been a democratic mayor since 1991 there. Hogan is a teabagger candidate. Low voter turnout considering the size of Jax but good to see a gopper fall. Brown just wrote on Facebook that the newly counted absentee ballots have put him further ahead...out of the recount category. He ran on taking a 20% pay cut as mayor.
The man did a lot of leg work to win this..unlike Hogan who ran an ad with his granddaughters asking for his vote.

Jax.com has called him the winner.
