The real revolution has little to do with traditional left or right.
The real revolution is the internet.

If we can keep it.

We will keep it. I know nerds (more than half one, myself).

4. I disagree, I think they go together like a hand and glove. Look at our militarty.
Our military would be, for the most part, a bunch of overweight bumbling oafs if it were armed with the same technology as the rest of the world. Our Department of Homeland Security would be nowhere without its precious technology, and then there is the NSA, home of worst elements of our Government in terms of trampling on our right to privacy.

5. That's bought and paid for engineering
But the Internet, the cell phones...that's an engineer's lifeblood, more precious than his family. We will defend to the death our right to the bandwidth!

6. DU oughtta have some kind of "Respond to All" option.
What a neat little discussion is happening here.

One implication that occurs to me is that the goons need the geeks. At some point, the goons might well alienate the geeks to the point that the geeks will become unpurchaseable, and will turn their mystical talents on discomfiting the goons.

And, while geekery may or may not be a goon disinfectant, information is. Sure, there's a lot of bad "information" online, but there's a lot of good stuff too. The function of educated intelligence and wisdom is to sort the good from the bad, and base one's actions on the good.

8. Yes, but never before have so many people been potentially exposed
to so much information. In the past, it was largely the role of scholars and specialists to sort out the grain from the chaff, and to dispense the former to the masses. Now, people have a much greater opportunity to do it for themselves, and with that opportunity comes a new demand for widespread information-processing skills of the sort that was previously the province of those with higher educations. No wonder the Rs want to destroy free academic inquiry in this country.

The revolution is a little too vague.
