Alvin Brown just become Jacksonville's first African American mayor!
I am completely shocked, the numbers prove that extreme teabagger tactics scare the SHIT out of people even in historically strong republican metro areas.

Congratulations on the big move forward!

2. Absolutely the best news Florida has had, for me at least, in ages.
Congrats to this wonderful man who made this happen.

4. It truly is, it's like a giant glass of fresh iced tea in a hot desert.
We never get *any* good news politically in NE FL, so to have this happen HERE just completely blows me away.

Yes, he's a very moderate Democrat and a Clinton guy, but hey--I am just hoping and praying that his new policies will turn downtown around from it's current ghost town status which Peyton cursed us with during his reign.

And I am so excited that First Baptist Church downtown didn't get "their guy", HAHAHAHAHAAAA!

We also got some very colorful characters on city council, things will be quite interesting to say the least.

Can't wait to see the precinct breakdown, but I hear that Mr. Brown had a solid republican vote.

5. How do I do this?
Mayor-elect Brown won't be giving his speech until tomorrow morning, he is being very gracious to Hogan (who just conceded a few minutes ago).

11. just heard, Hogan conceeded. Woohoo. Scott's reign of error continues
if you dont believe this was a referendum of people upset at Rick Scott vs those upset with Obama, your fooling yourself. A black Democrat beat a white Republican.

2012 is shaping up to be nice. A backlash of votes against the Teabaggers.

18. just drove by the Alvin Brown HQ, supporters waving and celebrating
we honked the horn, waved, and had flashbacks of 2008. A black democrat beating a white repuke.

File under: things this white boy from the South would never see.

Yes, it's definitely one of those things one would never expect from this area, but it HAPPENED. :D
