Bill O’Reilly Admits Jon Stewart Crushed Him in Debate
Edited on Thu May-19-11 11:56 PM by tabatha
(was this posted before?)

Earlier this week Jon Stewart delivered a satisfying defeat to Bill O’Reilly when he debated the Fox News anchor about Common’s invitation to the White House. As if Stewart’s performance in the debate weren’t enough, Bill O’reilly site is now voluntarily displaying the cold, hard truth: Even O’Reilly’s viewers think Stewart absolutely spanked him.

Huffington Post noticed earlier today that O’Reilly had conducted a poll on his own site, with over 72,000 of his readers participating. Thats’ a big number—and a tiny margin of error. With the poll closed, as you can see below, Stewart took the debate in a clean sweep. Every single state. If this were a presidential contest O’Reilly’s would have performed worse than Michael Dukakis.

Sometimes it’s okay to gloat—especially if you’re just joining in the the loser in trumpeting his own defeat.

1. It seemed like O'Reilly was half hearted about the argument from the start,
He should be pissed at Fox for taking their crap and running with it. He should have known better than to promote the Common issue.

4. "tiny margin of error" -- that makes no sense. The sample in the poll was not random in any way,
which means the words "margin of error" have no meaning.

I'm sure Stewart destroyed O'Reilly, and I would suspect most of his viewers think so. But we shouldn't give credence to non-scientific and non-random-sample polls just because they sometimes have a result we like.

6. I think that may have been snark that misfired a bit..
I would guess "tiny margin of votes" was what was meant in a snarky manner.

7. Thank you.
I guess this level of ignorance is to be expected from the Huff Post. But for God's sake, shouldn't it be blazingly obvious to anyone that these online "polls" are totally meaningless?
