Still wending my way toward Oregon

I am in my least favorite of all US cities, Las Vegas. Dr. DemoTex and I
were trying for dinner meet-up together here tonight, but she missed her
original flight that would have gotten her in at 3PM. Instead, she
arrived at 8PM. I am staying in a filthy La Quinta and she in the MGM
Grand (La Quinta allows dogs). When she called from the airport at
8PM, I hopped a cab and met her at the MGM Grand. We spent 45 minutes
together - walking around, gawking, and enjoying smell of cigarette
smoke (gag!). We were both too tired to eat. Dr. D. waited with me in
the taxi line, and I caught a cab back to the La Quinta. The cab
driver bad-mouthed President Obama and Al Gore, but I was too tired to
fight back (I would have told him how much the GOP cares about those
in his socio-economic position). Did I tell you how much I hate Las
Vegas?

My boss called today (twice) from the lookout tower. He said the road
was plowed yesterday and with my new 4-wheel-drive truck all should be
well getting up there. He opened up the lookout today (shutters
opened, radios and phone installed, propane systems activated and
tested, etc.) and said it is ready for service on Sunday (my first
day). I'll actually spend Sunday morning in Bend provisioning, then
drive out to unload, and return to Bend late Sunday. I have to attend
the fire-season kick-off meeting at the ranger station on Monday
morning (meet & greet the newbie firefighters).

But drop that second oxygen molecule (CO2 => CO). Saturday night will be the 1-year anniversary of Nick (perhaps) saving my life during a bad CO (carbon monoxide) exposure event. You remembered!

Down in Sacramento tonight. Still trying to get loaded east. There was diddly squat in Portland.

Everyone tells me now I wouldn't like the place.....just like I wouldn't like Washington, DC today compared to when I lived there in 1971 and 1972.
