What Do Republican Lawmakers Have Against Qualified Judicial Nominees?
Republican Lawmakers have, ONCE AGAIN, dissed a qualified judicial candidate nominated by President Obama. First, they voted against the FIRST Hispanic American, Chief Justice Sotomayor. Now Republican Senators are holding up the approval of Asian Pacific American Goodwin Liu whose nomination has been sitting on their desks for OVER A YEAR. Professor Goodwin Liu of the University of California, Berkeley’s School of Law would sit on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit covering the West Coast and Hawaii. He would, also be the ONLY, sitting, Asian Pacific American appellate judge to represent a population that’s nearly 40% Asian Pacific American.

In both cases, Republican Lawmakers pulled out their LAME BRAINED “qualifications” card. Chief Justice Sotomayor AND Professor Liu received the American Bar Association’s highest ranking – “Unanimously Well-Qualified”. Additionally, during her Congressional hearings, it was noted that Chief Justice Sotomayor was the “most qualified Supreme Court Justice nominee IN HISTORY”. The New York Times stated that Professor Liu is “an exceptional nominee”, and even FOX News anchor and legal analyst Megyn Kelly said “his qualifications are unassailable.”

So what’s the problem with Republican Lawmakers and QUALIFIED federal justices? Is it because Justice Sotomayor is a Hispanic American; Professor Liu is an Asian Pacific American, or is it because both candidates were nominated by an Afro-American?

1. Perhaps they are just really bigots and racists
As an American I am promised access to the court system
By the republicans holding up all these nominations they are denying my right to the court system
It is their job to judge all people by their qualifications
If they refuse to do this then they are not doing their job
If they are not doing their job they are in violation of their oath to the Constitution
If they violate the Constitution then they should be brought up on charges
In my opinion their actions border on treason

5. It's a matter of WHO nominates the judges
and their party affiliation.

6. The only qualification is
"Do they hold the same political philosophy as I do?" That is true for both the Right and the Left. For instance, both Roberts and Alito were rated "well qualified" unaminously. How many here agree with that assessment?
