2. The scary thing is some nut thinking he's 'helping' the rapture by

setting something in motion that could lead to disaster. The people that made this up should be ashamed of themselves.

3. To me that has been the danger of all end times theology. One of

the things right wing churches have in common is the idea that they need to set the world up for the second coming not through conversion but through politics. One of the first people who may have manipulated history for this coming event was probably Harry S Truman. He was a Baptist and strongly supported the creation of the new Israel smack dab in the middle of all her old enemies. When I was younger someone told me that he did that not because he thought it would be safe for them and because that is where they wanted to go but because he thought it fulfilled Biblical prophecy.
