When I first discovered 'leftwing' forums after starting out on mixed, right/left forums with the right mostly dominating everything, I felt like I was in heaven. But after a while I missed having people to argue against because it was THEY who forced me not to be lazy about doing research if I wanted to just stay alive on some of those boards.

You would be annihilated for just offering an opinion. Twenty rightwingers would 'demand proof' and if you couldn't provide any, the next ten days would be devoted to mocking you for being a 'typical, ignorant, moronic, lying, limp-wristed, latte-drinking, tofu-eating, lieberal traitor'. And much, much more.

I cried the first time I was attacked, but then I got mad and was determined not to be run off the board, as so many others were. This was right after 9/11 so it was pretty awful for anyone who didn't like Bush to face the wrath of the freepers.

After two years of surviving, they accepted and even sort of respected me for refusing to be driven off and said so.

Lol, I even got invited to 'go hunting Elk, after attending a Country Western Concert and eating at a 'real man's' restautant that didn't serve Tofu and then to an NRA fundraiser'. I accepted, if they would go to a peace rally, then a vegetarian place for dinner and a folk music concert of mostly anti-war music.

Stereo-types abounded on that board! Lol!

Oh yes, they also invited me to a showing of 'Red Dawn'.

But it was they who forced me to do some research before posting. So, I thank them for that. I learned a lot, in a hurry, thanks to them ~ :-)
