Why doesn't everyone understand that there's something not "normal" about Newt?
I'm not a psychologist, a psychiatrist, or even a student of how the human mind functions.

It's no surprise that Newt Gingrich still believes he can be elected president. But what is surprising is that there are still people who share his parallel universe and think that they're going to see a "President Gingrich."

So here's my question. Are those who believed that the rapture was going to happen yesterday any more gullible, ignorant, or just plain nuts than those who foresee a "President Newt?"

1. That depends........
it depends on whether or not Gingrich has enough of the corporatocracy in his corner. If he does, there are ways to ensure he is elected. We saw them in play in the Bush the Younger fiasco.

6. I don't think the corporatocracy is in his corner. The hit job from Scheiffer this AM seals it .
He's being scrutinized and challenged way beyond what normally happens to even the wackiest GOPer. I don't know who they want 'in,' but it's clear they want Newt 'out.'

5. Besides the Pillsbury Doughboy look?
It takes a big bill at Tiffany's for him to get any if other women feel like I do when I look at him or hear him speak, EWWWWW!!!!

Yea, there's something badly off with his ego. In his world Bill Clinton was too immoral to be President but his morality is so much worse than President Clinton's (if you want to get technical) but yet he's ok? He has way too much baggage to go up against other Republicans, I guess he hopes his basic hatred of people will pull him through with Republicans. I will never forget when he said one time that if parents couldn't support their kids then orphanages should be created for those children. What a sick SOB!

7. Because there are an astounding number of crazy people in the US.
Harold Camping took in over $8 million in donations in 2009 for telling people that they would miraculously be taken up into the sky yesterday.

And that is just a small segment of the people out there that are living in a deadly mind numbing illusion.

8. I understand that Newt just runs for President to raise his income.
Keeps him in the national spotlight. Allows him to raise his speaking fees. Gets him face time on national media. Allows him to raise millions for his special interests-- himself and other conservatives.

9. Remember the Bushies talked about MAKING their own reality. THis is more of that.
They hold that if it's your destiny you can make it happen. SO just BELIEVE. I always find it amusing they call themselves the logical ones for just that reason.

I for one welcome candidate Newt since I will enjoy seeing him shredded. But the actual GOP candidate is waiting for the initial bloodletting before coming out.

12. Why do you think Newt can't win?
You aren't using logic, are you?

There is no place for logic in politics.

I logically thought that the last republican president could not possibly
beat someone who was obviously ten times smarter than he was.

That was when I learned my lesson in political logic.

15. Some time ago
there was a poll that showed 18% believing that Obama was born in Kenya. About the same time, another poll showed 18% firmly believing that the earth is flat. It was suggested that it was the same group of people in both polls. In any case, there's a segment of humanity that, for whatever reasons, seems determined to remain detached from basic common sense.

In this country, a portion of that segment could be sufficient to put a candidate just barely into the win column, so playing to them is a worthy endeavor -- just ask Karl Rove.
