Destructive Joplin Missouri Tornado
Edited on Mon May-23-11 11:41 AM by Drale
On May 22, 2011 a highly destructive and deadly tornado tore through the town of Joplin, MO. Here is video of the tornado entering the southwest side of town, filmed by TornadoVideos.net Basehunters team Colt Forney, Isaac Pato, Kevin Rolfs, and Scott Peake.

1. I'm in Missouri, and anyone wanting to volunteer...
can register with www.showmeresponse.org They are asking for health professionals and others to register. I am a counselor, and registered, have not been called to service yet, but think that this is a great idea in that they can access as many volunteers as possible. Anyone else close, if you are able to assist, please register and get your name in the database. You don't have to be a professional, but of course, as many professionals as possible would be great. Thanks...

4. That was wild.
Because in the very beginning, first you had the little vortexes that dissipated, and then almost instantly, the main center vortex formed. It broke up a couple of times and then held, but didn't really 'expand'. It was more like the wall-cloud came down to make the tornado :o

I've got the Salvation Army's page up here and will donate tonight (don't like to make transactions on the work computer.)
