You know, I think the Republican middle class knows that the Repubs are reckless and irresponsible.
One of my BIL's said that the U.S. works on a cycle. The Democrats fill the coffers and the Republicans loot them. It's all part of the plan. And because of this, it's better to be a Republican.

And, for a while there, they were saying things like, so what if global warming exists? I'll be dead in twenty years so what does it matter to me? (Even if they had children they were saying this!)

So I suggest we try to work the meme on responsibility, emphasizing which party really is better for the next generation and for the planet.

1. But you just said that looting and thievery was the appeal.
So how could we win with your BIL by emphasizing responsibility?

3. In the Conservative mind, there is a difference between corporate looting and people looting.
Its okay to loot the coffers of the government or a corporation, but its a whole different matter when people who NEED things take ot from stores.

2. You make a great point. Thier idea is that even if ther IS global warming, riots, food and fuel
shortages, they and their families will be rich enough to stay above it all. That is why they want a police state, too. To protect them from the have-nots who will eventually come to their houses....

Its all part of the plan.

4. Sadly, most of these conservatives are not rich enough
to stay above it all. In fact, most of these conservatives have/had/will have parents on government aid, kids taking government help for school, etc.

This is the most baffling part of it.
