Herman Cain admits he didn’t know what ‘right of return’ meant
Source: RawReplay
By David Edwards

Republican Presidential Candidate Herman Cain admitted Monday that he had been stumped by a question about the Palestinian “right of return” the prior day.

“Where do you stand on the right of return?” Fox News’ Chris Wallace had asked Cain Sunday.

“The right of return? The right of return?” a confused Cain responded.

“A lot of people think you didn’t understand the right of return,” Fox News’ Sean Hannity noted during an interview with Cain Monday.

“They are exactly right, Sean,” Cain replied. “Chris caught me off guard. I didn’t understand the right of return.”

6. That was my thought
At least he was honest and didn't try to give some stupid answer.

18. Well, on Chris W. show
he did give a stupid answer. Even after Chris explained what it meant.

3. Has this guy ever held an elective office? If not, running for president
seems a little odd.

5. No, he has not held office. He was the head of a bankrupt company though.
He is GA/GOP/Tea Party candidate and sometimes talk radio host. :(

He is a joke here in GA unless you are a Tea Partier or a Neal Booetz style libertarian.

8. I thought he took over a bankrupt pizza company?
A bit different than running it into the ground, don't you think?

10. No, but most people aren't experts on foreign policy unless they served in federal government
(Senator, Congressman, cabinet, etc.)

4. He should have pulled a Palin and replied with "I stand by all rights of return!"
It might have bought him some time...

7. Hey, I have to hand it to him!
He sounds like a humble dude. Most people try to cover their tracks. I had never heard of him until this week and I don't know too much about his policies but that particular exchange is fine by me.

9. Cain is admittedly short on foreign policy issues.
I don't think that's a secret. I think that will be an issue for him.

11. Is he a warmonger type? If not, then being difficient in foreign policy
may be a good thing. I really don't care what how much my president knows, as long as s/he doesn't get us embroiled in wars (unless attacked on our homeland, of course) and meddle in other countries' politics.

13. There's a lot that goes on in the world outside of the US that affects the US or humanity.
Israel/Palestine, Sudan, Ivory Coast, Somalia, Pakistan/India, and on and on. The president should at least have a clue about what goes on outside the US. The "right to return" issue is complicated enough where I can expect a new candidate to not understand it. But... a candidate should have an idea what's going on outside the US and what's current. This was current news.

17. Again, I have never heard the man speak or know all his positions
but not knowing something today doesn't mean he can't learn it before Jan. 2013! I didn't even know what it is but now I do. I really don't think most things are "complicated." Palestine is "complicated" because others want the land. And affecting humanity? What have we done in most of those countries? Have we helped people in Pakistan? You don't see what we are "doing" as being in the guise of "helping" people but actually exploiting them? Sometimes even behind the scenes, by de-stabilizing governments. No, I don't see America as helpful in how they relate to other countries. We just need to BUTT OUT.

12. Well that and starting off his political career with a run for the presidency.
Has anybody ever been elected without winning a lesser office first? ( not including George Washington))

15. Some generals have.
Twelve Presidents were former Generals; George Washington, Andrew Jackson, William Harrison, Zachary Taylor, Franklin Pierce, Andrew Johnson, U. S. Grant, Rutherford Hayes, James Garfield, Chester A. Arthur, Benjamin Harrison, and Dwight Eisenhower.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Which_general_later_became_President_of_the_United_States

I don't have time to research who held elective office before running for president, but a few have been elected without elected experience. I think Grant and Eisenhower fit that.
