NY 26 Special Election for Congress
I'm excited. I think we may finally be able to turn this seat blue. Our local news predicted a light turnout today. I just got back from casting my vote for Kathy Hochul and I had to wait in line. Figured maybe I just came at a bad time. I asked a poll worker and she said the turnout had been extremely heavy. For once I was happy to see so many old folks voting. Kathy's a great candidate and she ran a great campaign. I'm so hoping she's able to pull it out and win this thing.

5. Kick for early returns and interim results
Let's keep this on the front page, folks. This seat should have been a cinch for the GOP to hold, but their fatheadedness over ending Medicare has put it in play big time. This could be a little preview of what's in store for the House in 2012, as the Republicans are going to have to defend their endorsement of the Paul Ryan Express.

8. I'll try to post links for the returns
when I find them. The polls don't close until 9 pm so don't expect anything earlier than that.

I just found a link to this in another thread here.

This is the same guy that punked Walker in Wisconsin. He's running for the seat on the Green Party line. This time he punked the call banks. Read the article and see all the blowback he's getting on the Medicare issue.

9. I am not sure a large turnout in a heavy Republican district is a good thing.
I would imagine disgusted Republicans would just as soon stay home rather than vote for a Democrat. I hope it is good news but am skeptical.

12. It's a good thing here in my precinct
I'm in one of the larger towns in the western part of the district, Eric County is very blue - so in my area a heavy turnout is good.

10. The voting machines will be impounded tonight...
...just heard from my beau (a machine custodian in the district). They had all the necessary paperwork this morning when they started because the Board of Elections was expecting this to happen.
