ABC just reporting still over 1,000 people missing in Joplin.
Still searching. One family looking for an 11 yr old last seen sheltering in a bathtub.

1. That means they found 500 people
which is great news.

In the midst of all this death, injuries and destruction the one piece of good news will be construction jobs across the country.

2. Erroneous number was high in Tuscaloosa, too...over 500...

What happens is that there are multiple reports of people missing, "illegal workers" are not counted and then just weird reports of people missing.

Many days after the April 27 tornado destroyed Tuscaloosa I saw a fire truck in front of my house and went outside to greet the firemen. They said my neighbor was on the missing list, had I seen him? I said, yeah, yesteday he was riding his lawn mower and we talked about insurance company pay-outs since we both had damage from the April 15 tornado.

Of course me and many folks still don't believe the death toll here was only 41 after seeing the destroyed neighborhoods first hand. However unfortunate this sounds the death toll is probably higher because the very poor areas of town that were wiped out had undocumented workers living there. So the county coroner can't identify them thus the low number. Sad, but probably very true in Tuscaloosa.

I feel so sorry for the people of Joplin as they are now going through what we did last month which is sheer horror.

I send Peace and Hope to everyone who survived this trajedy.

On edit: no idea why my neighbor was on the missing list since he's the only one around here who had a generator and had power after the monster tornado hit us.
