Traitor!
Former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney went on Libyan state TV over the weekend to condemn U.S. policy in the region, CNN reported

The station on which McKinney appeared Saturday night is loyal to Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi and her interview was spliced with video of pro-Gadhafi rallies, CNN said.

"I think that it's very important that people understand what is happening here. And it's important that people all over the world see the truth. And that is why I am here ... to understand the truth," McKinney was quoted as saying during the live interview.

1. What exactly makes her a "traitor"?
I read..... I thought.... her comments very carefully.

Perhaps you overstate.

4. She is anti-war. She has always been anti-war.
She was one of the few who had the courage to stand up against Bush back when everyone else in Congress had lost their tongues. She is a very courageous woman and she sees what's going on, once again.

Funny how she used to be a hero to the 'left' when Bush was president and when she questioned Rumsfeld which no one else has had the guts to do.

Too bad more people did not back her up back then, this country would be a far different place than it is today.

It is a much more cruel place than it was when all this began. Now, the killing of human beings causes hardly a comment and we 'discuss' torture.

She is no traitor. We are, according to the president, not at war with Libya and just months ago he was being entertained by top US officials and his son was being welcomed by the SOS at the State Dept.

6. Funny how she's anti-war when she's fact checking in a city that is embarking upon war...
...against its own people.

Yet she seems to be a pal of Gadhafi.

My former congressman, Earl Hilliard, was also a friend of Gadhafi.

I think the Libyan dictator must pay very well. Or McKinney and Hilliard are just nuts.

Cynthia McKinney is a hypocrite on a massive scale. She hates white people, and especially Jews. Fuck her.

9. Oh, please. Cynthia McKinney is not a traitor to the U.S.
She has been a target of particular bile and attack by AIPAC for more than a decade. Apparently, there is some bad blood between them, and it is AIPAC that feels betrayed.

13. ""I think that it's very important that people understand what is happening here."
I do too, but I need to make sure that truth is the "real truth" and not just Gadhafi's truth! Hopefully she gets some credible information.

14. Indeed, and for example
Who are the "rebels" in Libya? My understanding is that this is a very disparate group of people with several very different agendas. Who is in ascendance here? Who is bankrolling this? Who is supplying arms? And in the event Qaddafi is deposed, who is likely to strongarm his way to the top? Is this an insurgent movement dedicated to democratic reform, or is it being used as a vehicle in hopes of swapping one dictator for another?

My short answer is "I don't know," and given the efficacy of the American military and intelligence communities lately, I'd venture to say that our government doesn't know, either. I think it would be an excellent idea to find out a little more before we forge ahead.

15. Good questions, which many people started to ask
after it became apparent that things were not what they seemed.
