Top Republican promises Wall Street that GOP is bluffing on debt limit
Top Republican promises Wall Street that GOP is bluffing on debt limit
Jed LewisonforDaily Kos

Camp has made the case to Wall Street that the vote is just a political marker intended to make clear that significant cuts will be required to get an increase through by August, when emergency measure run out and markets could begin to take possible default more seriously.

Camp’s calls come as the GOP walks a fine line between satisfying its tea party-influenced base, which fiercely opposes raising the debt limit, with a broader public concerned about the impact a default, or near default, could have on markets and the economy.

1. The Republicans could care less about EITHER
the Tea Party group OR the general public in this matter. They will pay lip service to the baggers, but when it comes down to it, they'll vote to raise the debt limit. Why? BECAUSE THEIR CAPITALIST MASTERS WANT THE DEBT LIMIT RAISED!

It's really as simple as that. Anything said or threatened is just that. An empty threat.

2. If I were a Capitalist, I'd be Very Worried
that in fact, the fix was NOT in, and the peasants were in fact rebelling, as well as revolting...

3. We'll get the worst-case scenario as usual..
... Obama will offer up huge concessions to "avert a disaster" instead of telling the Repubs to get stuffed. THEY ARE NOT ABOUT TO FAIL TO RAISE THE DEBT LIMIT, EVEN THEY ARE NOT THAT STUPID.

Well, perhaps the Tea Party droolers but they control nothing.

4. They are NOT Bluffing. They WANT to Wreck the Economy to Make Obama Lose
They will force us into default and crash the economy.
That is their best chance of winning the election next year.
The Tee Vee will tell everyone that it is all Obamas's fault.

They will then also be able to extract massive concessions
from the Democrats (Medicare, Social Security, huge tax
cuts for the rich, everything they are now demanding and more).

With millions suffering due to the loss of government aid,
the Democrats will once again be forced to cave.

6. Won't happen. Wall Street wants the debt limit raised
What Wall Street wants, Wall Street gets. Haven't you noticed that?

9. The Tee Vee Will Shift the Blame to Obama

The Repigs have total control over the Mighty Slime Machine (MSM),
which will blame Obama for the resulting economic chaos.

11. Perhaps..
... but more people are paying attention to matters economic than used to. Sure seems like they told the R's to eff off in a special election they were not supposed to lose.

The problem with the Rs is that they have been hiding behind lies (tax cuts create jobs, etc) for a long time but people are starting to smell a rat.

I don't think the Mighty Slime Machine was really trying that hard in that special election,
they didn't expect it to even be close so they got complacent. That will not happen again.

They will be getting media more on-message. They have turned their "town halls" into private
events with only friendly teabaggers allowed, and all malcontents kept far away by security.
There will be no more raucous town hall meetings with angry constituents, just staged photo-ops
with carefully-screened audiences.

They will refuse to air ads that are too critical of the Repigs (like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuOsWY0cLkU).

The special election was in a blue state, without the kind of voter suppression or election fraud that
we have been seeing in many of the red states. The Repigs control of 27 states with 270 electoral votes.

We may still be able to beat them, but it won't be easy.

5. I think Democrats want Republicans talking and talking about this
the more they want tax cuts for the rich and program cuts to social security and medicare the worse shape they enter 2012. Seriously after the last month do I really think the Republican leaders will spend the summer talking about these ideas? I hope so :)
