Notorious Racist Sheriff Arpaio's Deputies Arrested for Cartel Ties

Notorious Racist Sheriff Arpaio's Deputies Arrested for Cartel Ties

Well, this is uncomfortable. Notorious racist Sherrif Joe Arpaio, who has spent time on the conservative circuit of late endearing himself to the Tea Party, maybe should have been supervising his own house instead.

The Arizona Republic has the report:

Three Maricopa County sheriff's employees, including a deputy in the human-smuggling unit, were arrested Tuesday by authorities who say they were involved in a drug- and human-trafficking ring and used Sheriff's Office intelligence to guide smugglers through the Valley.

...The sheriff's employees were among 12 suspects arrested Tuesday during a series of early-morning raids at 16 locations throughout the Valley where investigators had targeted members of the organization.

The group mostly moved heroin, according to investigators, and officials suspect each of the arrested sheriff's employees played a crucial role in moving the drugs and hiding the illicit profits. Authorities say the ring moved about $56,000 worth of heroin a week through the Valley.

1. Republicon Family Values as usual: hypocrisy & corruption up the wazoo

While tuff-blustering a-hole Sheriff Arpaio (R) demonstrates the Republicon infallible aptitude for FAIL.

3. Since the identities of the arrested so far are all Hispanic
Joe and his supporters will just say this proves that no matter how hard he's tried to treat them equally, ya just can't trust them.

4. Now why isn't this surprising? Who would have a better reason
to keep an unstable environment along the border than a corrupt law enforcement division and its bossman?

5. I wonder how the 'toughest' sheriff in the U.S.
could have this happen right under his nose?

Unless, maybe he knew about it. That would be so Republican. Screaming about border security for public consumption, while profiting from it himself. Not saying he was, but news that he was, would not be a surprise.

It definitely makes him look pretty bad though. This is his biggest issue and he claims to be so successful at it.

6. What is Arpaio's real game?
Edited on Wed May-25-11 04:41 PM by Dawson Leery
What about the one hundred million that he "mis-allocated"?
On top of this, his deputies are smuggling humans too.

Perhaps his act is to cover up for a criminal enterprise?

7. sometimes I think it would be nice if life were like the movies and
there are a few FBI agents out there doing undercover evidence gathring on the holier than we crowd and

one day they jump out of a cake and yell, "SURPRISE, WE GOT RICO WARRANTS".

but perhaps that's just a dream.

8. I'll bet Arpaio knew all about it.
He was either complicit or he was involved. Either way, they need to get him too.

9. Wouldn't that be something
if he was some how tied to it, thus ending his notorious career?

10. I don't think the issue here is Arpaio
It's the fact these cartels have 'ins' with the cops on this side of the border just like they do back home. This is sort of like roaches . . . if you see one bust like this, you have to wonder how many other law enforcement organizations in the region have been similarly compromised.
