With as much time as you wasted on that snarky assed post, you could have offered someone a little help. Some of us have lives; we don't live here 24/7. Some of us actually stay away for days on end... I've been away five solid days... and as for the search function here, it's sadly lacking for some of us.

People can be so nasty to each other here and I've always hated the "look it up" attitude that comes out on some threads.

I don't post at DU, or anywhere, on weekends. At 6pm on Friday, the computer is turned off and it doesn't come on again until Monday morning. I still have my BlackBerry if the boss needs me, but I am DU free on the weekends. I find I really do need the time away.

I think I abhor that kind of behavior because I know I can be capable of it myself, and it is no less ugly and nasty when I do it... so I've made a real effort to mull things over before writing and be a kinder, gentler JuniperLea:D I think it's working because I felt sort of icky saying that to the poster... but I felt worse about LauraPMAD getting beat up for asking a question.

Something about anonymity, I think, brings out the worst in some of us. Worse still is when people bring this attitude back out into real life. When I felt like asking someone for a link, out loud, face to face, is when I realized I needed to make a clear distinction between the InterTubes and my life. Not my 'real' life... my life!

In short (yeah, right) I am trying to be the change I want to see in DU.

compared to a few years ago. I think a bit more about how I would speak with that person in public and I try to post to the person the same. Otherwise, I might say things that shouldn't be said, just because this is an anonymous message board.

The two years were needed. I burned out during the elections, had been burning out through a few other events, and I knew I needed the break. I found that many of the old Lounge denizens are no longer on the scene, which I miss.

I did find that the two year break has me refreshed and allows me to be a bit more levelheaded with my GD/LBN posting. I still haven't wandered into Guns, Religion, etc-I'm not ready!
