Dog Gets First Chance To Walk On All Fours
Edited on Wed May-25-11 08:03 PM by The Straight Story
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) – A former shelter dog that’s missing a foot is now learning to walk on all fours again.

“Brownie” tried on his new custom-made prosthetic paw on Tuesday. He lives with a family of four in Westminster and now he’s on new footing that may take some getting used to.

Everybody dotes on the friendly 3-year-old dog. They’re excited about his future because he’s had a difficult past. Brownie came to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley in April from an overcrowded shelter in Kansas. He’s active and playful even though he’s missing his left back foot.

“The sending shelter didn’t know if he maybe lost it due to frostbite or maybe he was born that way; just not sure what happened to him,” Kim Sporrer with the Humane Society said.

1. Dogs are remarkably resourceful.
I've known a few 3-legged dogs. All were happy characters who did everything they wanted to.

5. I've seen a 3-legged Dalmation lift his phantom rear leg to pee on things
They are definitely a very adaptive species!!

11. Amen to that!
please send positive vibes to my sweet pup. We lost our lab just before Christmas, & I was heartbroken. Now my 8 yo border collie/pointer mix might be very ill. Had her at the vet yesterday & she might have a serious condition from the fact they only found 1 ovary during her spaying (she is from the pound & they did her spaying when she was a pup). The vet said yesterday that they should have done a hysterectomy back then when they only found 1. He's hoping meds will help but if she isn't better by tomorrow she'll have to have emergency surgery. Since Aja passed away in December she has become my shadow. Last night her teeth were chattering from pain. :( Please keep her in your thoughts.
