1. I don't think he intended to vote to keep Medicare.

I think he voted against the Ryan plan because it wasn't radical enough. Ryan would at least hand out some cheap-ass vouchers; Paul would probably vote for a plan that had no aid whatsoever - not even cheap-ass vouchers. Government shouldn't help people at all - if you didn't make enough money before you retired to pay for your own insurance and/or your own health care, too bad - sucks to be you in Paul's objectivist paradise.

2. I've heard he thinks that proposal didn't go far enough
Rand Paul thinks all social programs should be cut, I believe. Only reason he'd be against this is because it doesn't go far enough.

3. Not really. As I understand it, he voted against 'cause didn't go far enough.

4. He voted no because the Ryan plan isn't radical enough
Lawrence O'Donnell spoke about this tonight; Rand Paul is a "fend for yourself" believer.

5. He wanted a crazier plan...
Never assume rationality with that one. ;)

8. He had his own plan he wanted to pass is why. I watched all
4 votes. There was the Ryan plan, the Obama plan that was presented in February, the Toomey plan and the Rand Paul plan.
All lost. But 40 republicans voted for the Ryan plan.
