Laura Ingraham has said far worse than Ed Schultz. Over and over again, day in and day out, Republican talking heads and radio hosts say the most vile things about Democrats, including targeting presidents' children. But Ed Shultz is being taken off the air. Anyone who believes he's "taking himself off the air" is not paying attention. ComcastGENBCMSNBCCNBC (whoever the fuck they are now) is fine with tossing some liberal gruel to a few hundred thousand peasants each night...it costs little to produce while generating big income/cred pretending they're something they're not.

Ed should have gone off script and told MSNBC to go fuck themselves while playing a montage of Ingraham, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, etc.

:(

1. You and I are in the minority.
Edited on Wed May-25-11 09:42 PM by Dawson Leery
Since, the 60's, the Democrats have lost their fighting spirit.
Most around here are supporting the suspension.

Ingraham, Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage etc...are pure filth.

that liberals are held to.

Edited on Wed May-25-11 09:47 PM by napi21
Ed does get emotional and sometimes he goes too far. I do hope he will be back, and soon. we all have to abide by our employers guidelines or qut & work somewhre else. I don't WANT our liberal hosts to be like the RWers. If they were permitted to be like them, I'd stop watching.

17. I don't want them rolling over, soft peddling, lacking conviction, giving credence to crazy talk,
trying to placate wickedness, or pretending these are decent folks.

I won't watch if they are like the Reich Wingers either but my like is defined by what they support and the content of their messages. The like I'm getting from you isn't the substance, the policies and causes are.

27. Seems like Ed wins by taking a week off
shows he's a stand up person and people that like a little mud slinging will get some free advertising that Ed might be their kind of mudslinger.

I think people have a right to insult each other. Insults are suppose to be insulting. I also think networks have a right to control their image. Ultimately negative news about these opinion shows can turn into free advertising so long as you don't go so far as to scare the advertising away.

but i do think that not partaking in the faux-set's phony spectacle would be better than engaging it.

but that would include refusing to participate in their rituals of humiliation as well.

the whole thing on both sides = phony spectacle.

9. I don't condone what he said (although I'm not terribly upset by it, either)
but as you point out, Ingraham, Limbaugh, Savage, et al., have said far more despicable things and, surprise, surprise, they never had to apologize. Same with Repugs and Dems...Democrats are always forced to grovel.

21. because we are more mature and kind
and want to set a better example. Sucks to be us sometimes... but I would bet that for a lot of us... we're like that in our personal lives too - we're the bigger people, we're the glue that holds things together... we're the ones that will sacrifice to make everyone happy... we compromise first, apologize first, and extend a hand first. It seems it is just nature for Dems to be more compassionate, kind and thinking people than repubs. I'm glad I am who I am even if other people suck sometimes.

41. quite the opposite actually...
whiny, indecisive wimps are usually egocentric and weak.

People who can empathize, compromise and set a good example by living the principles they teach or preach are usually strong and have leadership skills. It takes a lot of courage to apologize and admit you were wrong - especially the way that Ed did in such a public way.

13. Mainstream TV is for propagandized gullibles
Occasionally Ed and Rachael Maddow have outstanding shows, as does Jon Stewart, Colbert and Lawrence O'Donnell but 99% of it is sales for the lowest common denominator which is gossip, pure worthless gossip. It's so cartoonish it's laughable if a person just takes 1 week away from it then checks back in. There's movement everywhere on the screen, long lists of drug side-effects, animated movie ads everywhere and constant talking about pathological liar republicans that don't have a single thing to offer humanity.

14. It's not like Ingram hasn't slandered countless people she disagrees with.
There is a double standard and it bothers the hell out of me to see Ed get a suspension over this. A simple on air apology should have sufficed. What is MSNBC afraid of? Losing RW viewers? It's like we have to play with a whole different set of rules than the RW gasbags who daily will lie, insult, and misrepresent what guys like Schultz are saying. Very discouraging.

28. I don't use that word because of the ugly.
All of the network and cable news outlets are compromised, even analytic and smart people like Maddow and Moyers.

All TV media is within side boards established by ownership.

Ed is a tool and an entertainer and distacter, alas.

I am not a regular but usually am in like mind of sentiments but sometimes in stark disagreement.

I like and trust KO because I first knew him as an obscure baseball fan and writer.

MSNBC is MS and MBC and Comcast and GE. Maddow shows extreme finesse and intelligence and whatever to survive and be as perceptive in her program.

Most major media is compromised to a degree that is increasing by tactics of business and government and their overlap.

I am sure his employers would have been so awed by his actions, they would have awarded him a bigger contract, more money, and a better time slot. Why, if only he had just told his boss to fuck off, well, the sky would be the limit.

How bout it, Ed. C'mon, when you come back, take the first show and rip into management, tell them who really is boss.

Hell, I'd watch that.

He's out the door anyway. He's not a media heavyweight...hell, I remember back in the early DU days when he was just some anti-Bush blogger or something. He doesn't have the cred to fall back on. He's not going to be re-hired. Thus, tell the corporate media to fuck off, then work in alternative media, where the fuck off would be considered street cred.
