Times like these are when I really miss George Carlin

He would've had a lot more choice "gender-based" insults for the likes of Laura Ingraham.

And he'd tell anyone to go fuck themselves if they had a problem with his choice of terms.

I went to a show of his about 2 years before he died... he opened the show with this joke:

"You know what you don't hear much about anymore? Pussy farts!"

He was irreverent, and he didn't give a flying fuck what anybody thought about his "choice of words".

And he certainly wouldn't apologize for calling someone a slut, especially when she deserves to be called much much worse.

1. There's no single word that offends me on it's own.
It's all about context.

Having said that, I have mixed feelings on this. As an on air personality he should try to refrain from using such loaded terms that give people a single word to focus on instead of the message as a whole. On the other hand, the fact that Repubs get away with this stuff and far worse while we consistently grovel is rather disheartening. I played hockey for years, and we were told to always give back what you got and then some, so it's an odd place I find myself in over this.

And it's also hard to criticize Ed when I know that if I had a show the FCC would pull me off the air within a half hour. :)

3. Well if you'd put down the damn fork -
Maybe you'd be on the show for a bit longer than you'd think.

And how are you?!?

:hi:

7. Nah, I think 30 minutes would be stretching it.

Though my old girlfriend and I did a radio show at college on Sunday mornings called The Afterbirth Sermon (her name idea...she was cool lol), and that lasted for a whole semester before a complaint came in. Until then we thought the only listeners were our hungover friends. :)

And I'm doing super good. I just moved last week into a place that has things like heat, which I didn't have for 6 years, and rooms big enough to allow me to take more than two steps before hitting a wall. It's far from the Taj Mahal, but it's pretty nice compared to where I was before, and it's right downtown, which is cool, as I don't have a vehicle. Everything is in walking distance now, and the library is right across the street, another huge plus. So I'm very happy currently. A meteor will probably land on my head tomorrow.

And I hope that you're even half as happy as I am right now. :hi:

2. And Bill Hicks.
He would say anything he wanted to say with no regrets!

RIP to both of them!

8. He did a performance near my hometown and I didn't go.
And he died shortly after that. I still feel so awful that I missed that opportunity.

I did end up naming one of the froglets Carlin. And something really wierd; the froglets were frozen embryos, and though we didn't realize it at the time (other preoccupations), we looked back later and realized that George Carlin died one day before the froglet embryos were thawed.

So who knows. Maybe he lives on.;)

And yes, I liked that he never minced words and didn't care about offending. I doubt that he ever called anyone those things who did not act in ways that fit the description.
