Teacher suspended after 'forcing children to scrub toilets with bleach until their hands were raw'
Teacher suspended after 'forcing children to scrub toilets with bleach until their hands were raw'

An elementary school teacher has been suspended and is being investigated by authorities after allegedly forcing children to scrub the school toilets with bleach.
For two years, Catherine Saur, from Hartford, Connecticut, would make any student who used the bathroom thoroughly clean the room after they were done, parents claim.

Some mothers and fathers said their children would wet themselves during the day to avoid the chore, while one eighth-grader had his hands seriously burned after suffering an allergic reaction to the bleach.

An emergency meeting was held last night at Kennelly Elementary School after more and more children started to complain about the abusive rule.

1. This woman is mentally ill...
It is disgrace that it took two years to get her out of the job. And the idiot PTO woman should be sent away as well.

3. I had a teacher that threatened to give me detention for being late to class.
Because i had to go to the bathroom at noon to change my pads when it was that time of the month.
This was orchestra class from twelve to one. the damn director had a wife and a daughter. he threatened me with detention for being late and I told him I HAD to go to the bathroom.
I should have thrown a filthy dirty bloody kotex on his desk, I suppose.

i spent four years hating his guts because he always put his daughter in the first chair position int he first violins, whereas I played much better than she did and I never got any higher than fifth chair. Every time we played for chairs, every six weeks, i sat there and cried when the results were announced, and I didn't care what they thought, because I was powerless.

I did the same thing years later at work. Sat there and cried because I was powerless to change my bosses' opinions. Arguing did no good. And I didn't care if they thought I was an ass and I did NOT want their sympathy.

:banghead: :grr:

6. If your boss doesn't let you go to the bathroom, you should file a complaint with the Dept. of Labor

7. I think I know how she got away with it so long: authoritarian personalities are attracted
to K-12 (as are nurturing people) and they tend to promote themselves to administrative positions through a couple of night classes because they hate the actual teaching and nurturing that is required in the classroom--they want to deal purely with the rules.

The person at the top might not have thought the scrubbing was necessary, but admired the sentiment.
