AP: NJ to pull out of greenhouse gas initiative

TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is planning to exit a 10-state regional greenhouse gas program.

Two people who have been briefed on Christie's plan say the governor believes the program has been ineffective.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to upstage the governor's announcement, expected at a news conference on Thursday.

New Jersey has been in the program reduce carbon dioxide pollution in the Northeast since 2008.
