Racist.
There have been charges that liberals throw around the racist label unfairly. So that we don't harm any neocon or bagger feelings, a few guidelines for liberals.

We are all racists. By human nature. We all in addition, and similarly, have an in group, and an outgroup.

Racism, is the stratification of culture, in particularly socio-economically, by race.

Deeming individuals more or less dignity, according to race, is bigotry.

Acting on that bigotry, is discrimination. Discrimination is the element the law is most involved with. And rightly so.

Those despised by the right as racebaiters etc. are more involved in fighting racism, at the societal level. Those involved in eliminating the advantage the dominant culture enjoys being the most hated.

Studies show that the dominant culture is now claiming most victimized status. And along those lines, they search high and low for a way to hang the RACIST label on a liberal, and Dems in general.

So, let's stay on our toes, and use the correct label when a fool and their logic are encountered. Those uttering abhorrent statements referring to whole groups of humans in any category are bigots. Whether by class, race or nationality. And it is time to blur the minor distinctions. If you are a hater, YOU ARE A BIGOT.

This is more accurate, and carries more weight, than the generic charge of racist.

Till we accept that we are all racists, we cannot see the entirety of the problem. That should not cow any of us from calling out the bigot. And those that would install discrimination, as fascist.

1. only white people can be racist
and only men can be sexist

(yes I'm being facetious but a lot of people who have expressed the same idea have been quite serious about it.)

2. This is a misconstruing of a truth.

Only one with more power, is able to discriminate. By definition. So, one minority, expressing dislike of the dominant culture, although perhaps distasteful, is incapable of discriminating against them.

And we are all sexist, just look at advertizing.

4. What language is that you speak?
It sure isn't English...

dis·crim·i·nate

verb /disˈkriməˌnāt/
discriminated, past participle; discriminated, past tense; discriminates, 3rd person singular present; discriminating, present participle

Recognize a distinction; differentiate
- babies can discriminate between different facial expressions of emotion

Perceive or constitute the difference in or between
- bats can discriminate a difference in echo delay of between 69 and 98 millionths of a second
- features that discriminate this species from other gastropods

Make an unjust or prejudicial distinction in the treatment of different categories of people or things, esp. on the grounds of race, sex, or age
- existing employment policies discriminate against women

We're obviously talking about definition #3 here. And I really don't see anything in there about whether it has to do with a dominant culture. The whole "dominant culture"/"fight the power" angle is simply an excuse for racism, and making that exception undermines the central argument that society should not tolerate racism. From your point of view, some racism is in fact quite acceptable, if it comes from an approved source.

As far as being sexist, *I* don't look at advertising if I can help it and I sure don't let it influence me to buy things. So you can speak for yourself on that. I tossed my TV out a window many years ago for exactly this reason, that so much offensive shit came out of it.

13. "One with power" is pretty broad
Would you consider a black store owner who refuses to hire or serve whites under any circumstance, racist?

upon a living soul, it is largely moot. If he discriminates, based upon those feelings, that is another whole catedory, and worthy of legal sanction.

3. No, WE ARE NOT racist by human nature!
In the U.S., we may all be racist by growing up in a country founded on racism that still retains a deep well of such racism.

And when we see it, we should call racism for what it is: RACISM.

14. Yes, call societal racism, what it is. And fight it. But, we are all racists.
Even that we exist in this culture, to some degree.

5. Funny thing about the word "bigot"...
as you pointed out in your OP...

"If you are a hater, YOU ARE A BIGOT. "

I wonder how many here realize that by hating ANYONE...even Republicans...they are demonstrating bigotry.

Even as they point their fingers at others who hate some other group it's politically incorrect to hate...

If you hate fat people, Muslims, blacks, Jews, gays, women, women with blonde hair, noisy children, people on Welfare, homeless people, etc., you're a BIGOT.

If you hate Teabaggers and Republicans and cops, old people, and Baby Boomers, you're just being a good little Democrat.

So yeah...if the basis of your OP is that we're all basically bigots on some level, I agree.

People don't like knowing that shit about themselves, though.

21. Human racism...
I suppose so.

There are times when I really hate my own species.

I suppose I could call it racism on that level because I think humans are definitely inferior to a lot of "lower" animals.

23. Well since one of the meanings of bigotry
is that one is intolerant of some other belief, etc., then I suppose intolerance of intolerance is bigotry.

But then, I did say that we're all bigoted to some degree over something...

You are a discriminating animal. You do this for survival. You have learned to follow cause and effect, for the same reason. For survival. This has also revealed itself as the ingroup/outgroup impulse. Trust family, distrust outsider. All good instincts, in their proper place. Zenophobic and intolerant, when not.
