Cornyn On Senate Vote To End Medicare: We’re Not Ending Medicare
Cornyn On Senate Vote To End Medicare: We’re Not Ending Medicare

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has taken issue with the media's coverage of Wednesday's Senate vote on the GOP's Medicare-privatizing budget.

On the Senate floor Wednesday, Cornyn claimed "I will say that Republicans do not want to end Medicare as we know it. That is an intentional falsehood. That is a lie."

In response to two people who tweeted TPM's write up of the vote, Cornyn called the headline -- "Senate Republicans Vote Overwhelmingly To End Medicare" -- a "lie."

As Democrats are fond of pointing out, an early Wall Street Journal article about the GOP budget made the same claim. And the facts bear it out.

1. Hey, Cornyn. be proud of what you stand for. Own up to it!
You want to kill Medicare. Why is that so hard to own up to?
The Republican Party has wanted to kill Medicare since the day it passed.
Take responsibility for your own actions, John!

4. Cornyn doesn't stand for anything.
He sucks at the corporate teat and will do anything his masters tell him to do. He has no conscience, no morals, no soul. He is an automatic meat puppet for corporate interests. In short, he is the perfect republican office holder.

8. "Citizens United" Happened
The Supreme Court decided that corporations (even foreign ones) must be allowed to make unlimited, secret political contributions.
That was the "Citizens United" decision, and it changed everything.

5. Then riddle me this, Sen. Cornyn
How many legs does a dog have if you call his tail a leg?

Four; just because you call his tail a leg doesn't make it a leg.

Same thing applies to the doomed Republican effort to strip away one of the most successful government programs ever, one that has helped millions live longer, healthier lives. Good news though, Senator. You can volutarily give up your government-funded bag of Senatorial goodies and contribute it to the Department of Public Debt. We will NOT stop you.

10. The Ryan Plan might be compared to waterboarding - "we're not killing this person, just drowning....
..... him for a while, and, ah-oh, we waited too long, he's dead, but he wasn't tortured."

16. It's hard to NOT say a certain "F" word when talking about a certain Texas prick.
....but I guess I'd have to clarify WHICH prick I'm talking about.
NONE of them could give a shit about anyone but their donor pimps.

17. And I'm sure he voted not to leave children behind...
Edited on Thu May-26-11 05:10 PM by cascadiance
Even though that's what "No child left behind" did. Or the "Clear Skies" initiative, when it did anything but make for clear skies.

Republicans think they can just market anything their way to get their real agenda to go through. America is finally starting to wise up to their CRAP!

Cornyn, you DID vote to end Medicare the way we've always known it to be! And as someone who's 53, I'm DAMNED PISSED OFF at being the focus of being screwed after having paid double for my payroll tax contributions for most of my working life and now I'm told that it and SS will be taken away from me if that F'ing JERK Kochaine Koolaid Klub leader Paul Ryan gets his way!
