$690 billion defense budget....
Without a question.

These fucking fools want to cut education, assistance to the poor, Medicare, and everything that people need but they don't have a second thought about spending $690 billion on defense?

We are fucked!

In fact, it is much more than $690 billion. That doesn't take into account all the intelligence and special operations off record.

Why? Because we are afraid of the terrorists. Somehow, if we spend everything we can muster, we will be safe. At least, until we are hit again. Then they will come to the conclusion that we are not spending enough. The gluttonous pigs will want more and more.

Nobody is holding the Congress or the Senate accountable. They are a bunch of incompetent fools. They do not deserve to be representing the people of this country.

2. Actually, that is about half the annual amount that we spend on our military
Military spending isn't just the Defense budget. Military spending is spread out among several governmental departments so that people are kept in the dark about what we're spending on our military. For instance, our nuclear fleet isn't budgeted under the military, though it is clearly a weapon. Instead, it is budgeted under the auspices of the Atomic Energy Commission.

This ploy is repeated over and over throughout our military. And let's not even get into the CIA, and other black budget items. These also don't fall under the rubric of the Defense budget, but in special categories of their own.

The total amount adds up to about twice what the Defense budget is. Last year it was approximately 1.3 trillion, this year, it is looking like about 1.5 trillion dollars. Generally half our total budget is now spent on our military.

5. Exactly. Reported number is obscene.
The real number is beyond comprehension. And of course any discussion of this incomprehensible obscenity is "off the table".

3. No, we aren't afraid of the terrorists..
The politicians are terrified of being blamed for being "weak on defense" if another terrorist attack should occur.

Never mind that a domestic terrorist was caught by sheer happenstance yesterday.
