Perspective: Deadliest Tornado Year Since 1953
First...it was a mid-April three-day outbreak, with tornadoes near the Jackson, Miss. metro, then through Raleigh, N.C.

Then, an awful late April outbreak culminating with almost 250 tornadoes over a 4-day period, including Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Ala.

Then...a destructive weekend of tornadoes including a monster tornado that may have been over one mile-wide slicing through Joplin, Mo.

We have now had 2 of the top 6 deadliest tornado days in U.S. history in a one-month span this year! Below is the list from NOAA's Storm Prediction Center. Keep in mind the tally from April 27, 2011 is still preliminary and subject to change.

up to speed on Global Warming, maybe if they had sounded a warning then we could have avoided all this before it was too late.

I was in elementary school at the time and I guess we were too busy with Bert the Turtle Duck and Cover filmstrips to take notice of the real changes going on around us.

4. I've lived in the same place my entire life...
And there is unquestionably a change in weather patterns. Seems like the jet stream is more northern in our winters, more southern in the summers. All that bad weather that used to hit us now sinks to MS, GA, AL.

6. Changes here, too.
I've been north central Mass for about 40 of my 43 years. In that time we had a few tornado watches and and the odd warning, but not once did a tornado touch down. We've had 3 in the last two years. Small F2's, but still, odd to see 3 in such a short a time after none for so long.

Of course, this is just anecdotal and doesn't really mean much on it's own, but there's no doubt we're seeing changes in the weather patterns around the globe.
