27. For chrissakes, Jaws took place off Amity Island which doesn't exist
Martha's Vineyard just happened to be the filming location.

30. No, the real place was Martha's Vineyard. You are right that Amity Island is not real,
however, my intent was where was the REAL place in the film. It had to be shot SOMEWHERE, right?

38. I happened to be in Edgartown when it was dressed up as "Amity" for filming...
...on a vacation when I was a little kid.

The kicker is that I'm from...Amityville, which Peter Benchley had fictionalized into a more Hampton-esque location in the book (and which actually had been one in the early 20th century).

Of course, that other book and movie(s) can rot in hell...

40. A family member is lucky enough to have a summer place in Chappy.
So I have gotten familiar with the Vineyard. I absolutely love Edgartown. They had a big celebration on the 25th anniversary of "Jaws" a couple of years ago, IIRC...

39. I've heard the terror from that girl was pretty much not acting so much as director forced.
They jerked her under water, and whipped her around without cuing her as to exactly when it would happen.

It actually did panic her more than a little even though she knew it was going to happen.

I can still barely watch that scene. The panic in her voice is just too real.

6. First one looks like the West of England
Certainly the train is in the livery of the Great Western Railway. I'm guessing the North Devon coast, just from appearance. Westward Ho! perhaps, from Charles Kingsley's novel of the same name? I hope so, as that's where my maternal grandmother was born.

I was originally going to use a pic of the carousel in Central Park, same book, but this just piqued my long ago interest in the novel...

25. Ah, I remember the traffic tie up when that shot was made well...
I never saw the movie. New Haven was a mess. Drove us all nuts...as a result, I had no desire to see the movie...

You never can tell, can you? But, then, I have to confess that I am a Godfather freak...I've seen every one of them more times than I'd like to admit...

Actually, it's from Godfather I. I am wondering who could forget the wedding segment of that movie...I think it was with this film that I decided I just HAD to go to Sicily (I wasn't disappointed when I finally DID go!).
