An FB post on why we should tax the rich
Why Tax the Rich?
1) They profit from their greater use of public infrastructure (guaranteed economic security, transportation, communications, protection of access to resources/colonialism/war).
2) Prevent the concentration of wealth and power at the top.
3) Create a more equal and a healthier society.
4) They can afford it.
5) There are more of us than there are of them.

I think that about covers it....

9. Yup it is only a start. Our problems are bigger than that.
The thing that worries me the most is the delusion that other people can take care of everything and all of us. I shake my head.

4. Also, historically it can be shown that the last time we needed to keep the nation fully employed,

Eisenhower saw to it that community colleges and hospitals were built, the interstate highway system came into being, and the revenue sitting in the pockets of the people who had the jobs from building all these things meant homes were built as well.

All that came about because the tax rate hit on the rich, and not the poor and middle class.

5. So far as we expect the military to defend us and our property,
the wealthy have a lot more property to defend. That applies to law enforcement and intelligence as well. If every dime I earn can be taxed and have social security and medicare deducted from it, the rich can afford to have their percentage increased a little.

8. That's how I've always seen it, too! The wealthy have a lot more
to lose in case of an invasion or attack on the US than the poorer 90% of us!

6. I would like to see the implementation of the we vote - they pay part of democracy
After all, the rich are defiantly in the minority.
