Joplin Police: We Are 'Ready' for Westboro Baptist Church
This might get interesting.

<snip>

At an afternoon news conference May 27, Joplin, Mo., Police Chief Lane Roberts fielded a question regarding the presence of Westboro Baptist Church. He responded by saying the department will be "ready" for the presence of a peaceful protest at a community memorial service to be held Sunday.

Roberts spoke at the televised press briefing and was asked by a member of media as to what preparations the city will have when members of the controversial church show up. Roberts stated they have been in contact with the church and they will have an area set up for the protesters somewhere in the city.

Westboro Baptist Church, the same entity that protests military funerals, has scheduled a picket for noon to 1 p.m. Sunday. It coincides with a community memorial service as well as the arrival of President Barack Obama in town to speak to survivors of the deadly EF5 tornado that ripped the city in two.

"WBC will picket the Anti-Christ Obama who is speaking at the memorial service for the 126 God killed in his wrath with the whirlwind. They all died for the sins of Missourians who have repeatedly lifted up their violent hands against God's anointed, despite plain warning not to do so," the picket schedule reads.

6. I wonder what would happen if they got NO publicity whatsoever.
That is what is fueling them. Turn off the light and the moths will flutter away.

9. As a nation we seem incapable of this
I guess you can chalk it up to a 24x7 news cycle.

A simple no comment should have sufficed. And the police should not have been in contact with this group, other than to ensure that all the right forms are filled out. And you're right. If they show up, there should be no references to them in the news, no video, no photos. They might have been news once, but now they are a side show, a circus freak show. Even that comedian last week who donated money in their name to LGBT organizations. They should have held a proper press conference announcing the contribution, and not confronted these freaks for the cameras. It's like the Palin show. She's a grifter, a C-list reality show celeb. Until she announces a plan to run for office, she's a nobody. For example, has anyone heard from Trump in the past few weeks, since his announcement? No. Because he's a has been real estate developer and a second-rate reality show host.

7. I love what one of the last towns did...
People who lived in a town that WBC recently visited, found out what hotel the WBC members were staying.

After locating the hotel, they looked at the license plates and found the state plates that matched with
where these WBC members live. Big pick-up trucks blocked the cars of the WBC members, and ooop...they
weren't able to make their planned hate-fest protest. Darn!

Apparently, the police and tow trucks were called to move the cars that were blocking the WBC members
cars from leaving. I guess the tow-truck companies were sooooooo busy that day and by golly--it took
quite a while to get those cars moved! The entire day went by, in fact!

The police had better things to do, than get involved. hehe

I LOVE THAT!!

12. Those bastards came to my town for a soldier's funeral....
I just happened to be driving down the road the funeral home was on, a four lane main thoroughfare in town, the funeral home located just past the commercial section. There is a huge grass median at along that part of the road. The motorcycle group that comes to protect the families was there on the funeral home property. The bastards from Westboro were all the way across four lanes of traffic. In the median, the largest vehicles that the police department own, along with several large fire trucks...blocking their view. They were allowed to protest, but the police were not going to allow the family to have to see the signs or deal with them. I was quite pleased at the effort the police and fire went to in order to protect that family.

13. I have the perfect place for the protest
At Exit 4 there are three truck stops-a Pilot, a Petro and a Love's. The Petro web site says their store is undamaged, so I assume the other two are as well. Just have ol' Fred protest right in the middle of one of the diesel islands at any of those three places. Not only will it keep the townspeople from seeing these sorry bastards, undoubtedly a Swift driver who served in the infantry will need fuel just as Fred's protest gets into full swing.
