McCain: ‘Of course’ Palin can beat Obama
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has no doubt that his former running mate Sarah Palin can defeat President Barack Obama in 2012 if she decides to run.

"Can she win the Republican nomination and can she beat Barack Obama?" Fox News' Chris Wallace asked McCain Sunday.

"Of course she can -- she can," McCain insisted. "Now whether she will or not, whether she'll even run or not, I don't know."

Great example of wing-nut insanity...like she helped HIM so much in 2010!

2. McCain doesn't give a F about this country. In fact, we wonder if he's still
fit for office.

27. party line
He is just keeping rank with his party. Even if he doesn t think so there is no way a member of either party is going to publicly project a loss for their candidate for any office.

It is neither ignorant, insane nor evil.

But in this particular case it is difficult to believe he really means it- and it is also a bit funny.

31. I agree. It's surprising that so many comments in this thread assume that McCain was being sincere.
People can joke about his advanced age, but anyone who can still function at his level can figure out that Palin has no chance.

Lying about such things is just part of the game. Before the 1972 election, not many elected Democrats were saying what they all knew, that McGovern was going to lose.

11. I'll never forget a short interview right after one of Shrub's SOTUs in which
the interviewer asked McCain about McCain's talking-points, verb/garbage, that Shrub used in his speech. McCain was HIGHER than a kite and absolutely wreaked of snotty superiority in his reply, nearly openly laughing behind a thin, VERY VERY thin, facade of social robo-polite manners. His contempt was absolutely palpable. I'd bet good money he was extremely DRUNK.

I will NEVER forget that interview, coming as quickly as it did behind one of the most purely ROYAL post-election/pre-inaugurational Texas in D.C. seasons of extravagances ever !

10. If the economy doesn't begin to improve real soon...
anyone can beat Obama.

It's not all his fault, but presidents get too much blame for the bad and too much credit for the good.

13. The economy is improving and Obama is already beating every potential GOP candidate..
in latest polling. As long as there is not another major economic collapse or terrorist incident he likely wins easily.

I don't know about you, but when I have the flu, the recovery doesn't feel that good either.

Edited on Sun May-29-11 12:33 PM by Akoto
If she runs, Democrats just need to point at her picture and say, "Palin abandoned her governorship and the people of Alaska halfway through for the sake of making money. How can we trust her to commit to the nation and its best interests?"

19. She can win
all she has to do is get the votes. This however is quite unlikely. But it "could" happen. I "can" win the lottery, all I have to do is pick the right numbers. I "could" beat Obama too, not in a million years for certain, but it is technically feasible, all I would need to do is get more votes.....

23. I just emailed McCain
He, unfortunately, is one of my senators. I told him that I though his Alzheimer's was advancing. To make a statement like he did about Palin shows how much he's forgotten what a lying, vindictive sow she is. I reminded him that when Obama is pitted against any republican potential candidate, Obama beats Palin by the largest margin.
I really hate her and McCain. So glad we haven't had 2 years of these troglodytes.

28. Never underestimate the stupidty of the voting public...
The same people who watch Jerry Springer will vote for Sarah Palin. Also, not to forget the Dancing -with-the-stars caucus.

At this point... maybe we should let it collapse. What is there to save?

29. You make a good point! Yep! "Never underestimate the stupidity of the voting public..." I really
think many people blindly vote, don't know the issues and don't know the facts. Then again, some of the public, seemingly growing, are ignorant and outright stupid. Those two groups combined can add up to a lot of people.

36. I am very thankful that McLame and Palin DIDN'T win the election
I am fairly certain that the conniving, vengeful, evil shrew would have have found some means to get him out of the way, likely involving affecting his health, so that she could take her rightful, destined place as POTUS, even before their first term was even halfway through.
