DHARAMSALA: Newly-elected members of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile on Monday took oath of office, an official said here.

"All 42 newly-elected members of the 15th parliament-in-exile were administered oath by interim speaker Pema Jungney," spokesman Tenzin Norbu said.

Prior to the swearing-in ceremony of the members, Jungney took oath from the chief justice commissioner of the Central Tibetan Administration.

The voting to elect 44 members of the parliament-in-exile was held across the globe on March 20. The results were declared on April 27.

Its good to see the Tibetans ensuring that the foundations for a future independent Tibet are set in place. Kudos to H.H Dalai Lama for setting an example (by giving up power when he could have easily kept it...as all Tibetans adored him) by giving up his power and making way for a secular democracy. It takes a man of great integrity to give up power willingly and unasked.

I wish to see a Free Tibet one fine day. Do not lose hope.

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall -- think of it, ALWAYS." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
