"Maybe one day we'll all be telling peace stories ..."
Edited on Mon May-30-11 07:12 PM by Fly by night
"Last night I had a beautiful dream
A young boy sat on his Grandpa's knee
And the old man told a story of
how the world became one
When the armies of all nations
laid down their guns.

"Maybe one day we'll all be telling peace stories
To our children, God willin', all over the earth
Maybe one day the world will live in Love's glory
And war will be a forgotten word
Peace stories are all that will be heard.

"Old soldiers won't be showing their scars
When the battles are all over
they'll be sharing their hearts
Handing down wisdom and not hatred or fear
There will be the sound of laughter,
not the silence of tears.

"Oh maybe one day we'll all be
telling peace stories
To our children, God willin', all over the earth
Maybe one day the world will live in Love's glory
And war will be a forgotten word
Lord I hope and pray that ...
Peace stories are all that will be heard."

Peace Stories (George McCorkle, Bruce Birch and Vip Vipperman)

---------

Happy Memorial Day, all y'all.
Here's hoping that, one day, we all really will be telling peace stories.
And our side will know the words.

1. One self-kick to focus on what's important ...
... and Sarah Palin ain't it.

2. Here's hoping that, one day, peace becomes as profitable as war.
Now that would be a beautiful dream.

10. Thanks to you for breaking the cycle ...
... though that club in the back of the head doesn't look very peaceful.

3. Peace stories are so much more interesting anyway
Here's to 'em. Because if we're not waging war to end wars, what's the point of all the foolishness?

6. I actually had a dream of world peace, and wonders, back about 1980.
I dreamed that there was a comet that appeared in the sky, and it signaled to all aboard that an enlightened being was present on the earth.

All conflict and animosity was dropped, everyone was kind and helpful to one another in the excitement and anticipation of the wonderous and transforming actions such as were now happening in the world.

It was like fear of the unknown was gone, and happily we were all in this beautiful and amazing existence together. Like some heavy load was lifted off the dark misery of animal life and compassion and understanding were becoming the basic expression of life. And everyone here was aware of it, and forgot the unnecessary.

Don't know where dreams come from, but I awoke back to this rude world disappointed, but changed enough to see religion and brotherhood and strife from another perspective. I did try to immediately go back to sleep to return back to there, however.

7. War is only profitable when blind to the costs of war.
And who is Sarah Palin? Michael Palin's pet parakeet?
