Plains bus tour: this is the campaign
Guys, we aren't getting it. The bus tour is the campaign. Palin is end running the traditional process where candidates engage the electorate with speeches and debates. Palin knows that she would be torn apart if she stood up on the stump. Also, she would be forced to comply with FEC regulations regarding fund raising. So you facebook and twitter with no accountability and no opportunities for the press to question you. Her opponents have no chance for a back and forth that would only embarrass her. She is just sitting around waiting for her opponents to implode and will step into whatever primary she can easily do well at.

Palin doesn't need a national campaignn infrastructure. It will come ready made with the tea baggers who are already organized to do the door to door canvassing and fund raising.

As for her having no schedule, I ask why should she? It will only give her opponents a chance to organize a counter demonstration. No schedule also increases the hype. she has FOX news as her megaphone so the images of the bus tour are broadcast as part of her fundraising. Bio is doing something stupid with her inane daughter.

She is soaking up all the attention that should be going to the republican officially declared contenders. No one is focusing on the difference between Pawlenty, Romney, etc. So the electorate is not being given the chance to really discuss national issues. All that is being dished up is a national pipe dream of the days of yore when America was white, male and virile.

This is the campaign. There will be no debates. No need. Just manipulate the holographic image.

Palin will run or she will be one of the king makers.

2. Maybe so but it's a formula guaranteed to re elect Obama
Perhaps she can get the nomination by using these back door tactics but it will tear the republican party apart and possibly even lead to a third party candidacy on one of the less loony republicans.

In any event, if that's what she has planned, there ain't enough popcorn in the world to last through the whole thing.

3. Lots of folks ride busess to places.
I see she got up to one hundred people out to see her, with all of that national tea party structure getting the word out so strongly! I'm getting sick of these posts that tout FoxNews but refuse, it seems, to take a real look at the viewer numbers there. There are over 300 Million Americans. Fox News has yet to reach even 1% of the nation with any given show. That is not much of a megaphone. The Networks draw tens of millions to their nightly newscasts. Fox draws less than one million. Megaphone? More like two dixie cups and a string.

5. It's hard to get people to understand that Fox News only
hits a tiny part of this country. As you say, the traditional network news has far more viewers than any of the cable news networks. Far more. Nobody ever seems to document this when they're talking about the "impact" of Fox News.

Further, Fox News is watched, in large part, by people already convinced of what it's selling.

Now, the network national news isn't much of a source for accurate, unbiased reporting, but it's a helluva lot better than Fox. And, then, there are all those local news programs. They're watched closely by many people, who want to know about news that affects them directly.

4. I agree in part...
I think Sarah WANTS this to be her campaign, on her terms, and will try it out. But even worse than having to deal the with the media would be the embarrassment of a poor performance when the voting actually starts. Her fan base has always been fervent, but it's never cracked more than about 25%, and she'll be looking to see if she'll be getting enough people in her corner to be competitive in the primaries.

7. "Only Palin would kick off her BUS tour on a motorcycle."
My boss said that earlier today and we all died laughing...
