There are two words to describe the President's News Conference
Sobering - There will be cuts and it may not be pretty.

Frightening - It is possible there won't be a deal and it will be the Republicans fault.

By the way, Geithner is right. If the US defaults on any payments, it will be a disaster. You'll hear a great sucking sound come out of the US economy and fast.

9. There are no specifics, but he made it very clear that Social Security and Medicare were on the
table, and that says cuts in benefits

6. The only thing I will say he laid out the case and his position very clearly. This should have been
done much sooner

Of course we still don't have specifics, but there should be no question that social security and medicare are on the table, and to me that is disturbing in itself

8. Razzle Dazzle 'em
Give 'em the old razzle dazzle
Razzle Dazzle 'em
Give 'em an act with lots of flash in it
And the reaction will be passionate
Give 'em the old hocus pocus
Bead and feather 'em
How can they see with sequins in their eyes?

What if your hinges all are rusting?
What if, in fact, you're just disgusting?

Razzle dazzle 'em
And they;ll never catch wise!

Give 'em the old Razzle Dazzle

BILLY AND COMPANY
Razzle dazzle 'em
Give 'em a show that's so splendiferous

BILLY
Row after row will crow vociferous

BILLY AND COMPANY
Give 'em the old flim flam flummox
Fool and fracture 'em

BILLY
How can they hear the truth above the roar?

BILLY AND COMPANY
Throw 'em a fake and a finagle
They'll never know you're just a bagel,

BILLY
Razzle dazzle 'em
And they'll beg you for more!

BILLY AND COMPANY
Give 'em the old double whammy
Daze and dizzy 'em
Back since the days of old Methuselah
Everyone loves the big bambooz-a-ler

Give 'em the old three ring circus
Stun and stagger 'em
When you're in trouble, go into your dance

Though you are stiffer than a girder
They'll let you get away with murder
Razzle dazzle 'em
And you've got a romance

COMPANY(The same time as BILLY's)
Give 'em the old
Razzle Dazzle

BILLY
Give 'em the old Razzle Dazzle
Razzle dazzle 'em
Show 'em the first rate sorceror you are
Long as you keep 'em way off balance
How can they spot you've got no talent
Razzle Dazzle 'em

BILLY AND COMPANY
Razzle Dazzle 'em
Razzle Dazzle 'em

His speech had no impact.

Italian debt, blah, blah, blah.

I was looking to see if treasury yields dropped since the speech. No change.

Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 11:51 AM by Liberalynn
you are right. She could though vote no on principle, but I am willing to bet she won't do so. She put up her required token protest to show "she tried to stop cuts" but in the end will side with Boner and the President. We have to preserve the picture of "party unity and bipartisanship " at all costs.

The deal to cut "entitlements" and do nothing to upset the wealthy is as good as done, and other than some "for show" protests no one is going to stop it. JMHO.

Sorry... I've Lost "The Faith!" Don't Even Think Nancy & anyone Like Her
will be of any help. The clock is ticking and "we the people" are on the chopping block.

WHEN of WHAT will it finally take for us to rise up and take our country back? Not just in a few states here or there, but on a National level. There really must be some way to get our voices heard by ourselves because I really don't think it's gonna be heard by calling ANY Senators or Representatives.

I KNOW who I have to call for attention and I KNOW I have NO ONE TO CALL but Repukes. While they do answer the phone, I'm sure they're laughing as they hang up.

I live in FLORIDA! Fast becoming a "dead zone!"

21. The "crisis" is manufactured and has no credibility.
Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 11:35 AM by Marr
The debt ceiling will be raised because that's what big business wants. They would lose more than anyone from a financial meltdown. The view amongst liberals for years has been that the political establishment (and especially the GOP) is owned by big business. How people can just put that aside and actually buy into the notion that the GOP would give Wall Street the finger just to service a few loony ideologues is beyond me.

This is phony. There's nothing to be afraid of, and no reason to "compromise" at all. Any politician saying otherwise has an agenda they don't want to be frank about.

27. IMO, most republicans don't care what big business wants. Teabaggers are a different sort of
republican. They are crazed and don't understand the consequences of failing to raise the debt ceiling. Babchmann is their leader now and Boehner is following the teabaggers like a cow on a rope.

28. Exactly. The power brokers are using the debt ceiling as an excuse.
Of course they won't let themselves get hurt. But they use that thread to cause enough fear that people give up more and more till they have nothing left.
