Royal Family e-mails hacked/ phone too- This is gonna get nasty
Emails handed to the Metropolitan Police appear to show that the News of the World paid police officers responsible for protecting the royal family in return for the personal details of household members, according to a report.

The BBC's business editor Robert Peston said that in one of the emails, the News of the World's royal editor Clive Goodman asked the paper's editor Andy Coulson for money - said to be around £1,000 - in order to purchase a copy of the so-called "green book" of royal contacts from a royal protection officer.

The green book is a confidential directory of personal contact details corresponding to members of the royal household, and is meant to be locked away.

The emails suggesting that senior journalists at the News of the World were engaging in activities that would potentially compromise royal security were uncovered by the tabloid's publisher News International in 2007, but the company failed to act upon them, only passing the damning emails onto the Metropolitan Police four years later.

2. So when does MI5 get involved?
Seems to me this plus the news about hacking Gordon Brown could be interpreted as a breach of national security.

Would be funny if the Rupert "Champion of the Far Right" Murdoch got renditioned.

I'd pay for that headline.

3. Police officer 'sold royal family contact details' BBC
According to a source, the e-mails include requests by a reporter for sums of about £1,000 to pay police officers in the royal protection branch for the information. The phone details could have been used to hack phones of the royal family.

"There was clear evidence from the e-mails that the security of the royal family was being put at risk," the source said. "I was profoundly shocked when I saw them."

The source added that the e-mails were unambiguous signs of criminal activity at the News of the World.
"It is quite astonishing that these emails were not handed to the police for investigation when they were first found in 2007", he said.

The e-mails were not passed to the Metropolitan police until 20 June this year, when they were re-obtained - from the offices of the solicitors Harbottle and Lewis - by a recently appointed new team of News International executives

20. The problem is that Reagan expedited his US citizenship
so even if he ends up persona non grata in the UK, WE are still stuck with him...and our judicial system will give him a free pass..

11. I truly think...
this will be what takes him down. Screwing with the others might have been okay with some, but screwing with the Royal Family will really piss the Brits off.

I'm eagerly awaiting their demise. Good riddance asshole.

12. His papers lose money - but this will hurt his satellite TV deal
Murdoch's newspapers probably lose money. Its the Sky TV system that Murdoch wanted. With all this unpleasantry, even his biggest suckups in the British Government will have to tell Murdoch to not move forward on the deal.

22. You know the special police that protect the royals are the equivalent
of the SS in the US. Imagine if the SS took the equivalent of 1000 pounds from Fox for the Obama's book of private phone numbers.
What would that bastard take for a breach in security.

This is fugging huge and must warrant investigations in the US.
