Notice how Mr. "Poor Me" Obama keeps referencing his own "political pain" . . .
Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 07:18 PM by markpkessinger
. . . while steadfastly avoiding the subject of the very real economic pain that SS and Medicare cuts would inflict on seniors? And then he has the gall to refer to it as "shared sacrifice." Complete and total moral bankruptcy in my view.

1. The notion of raising the Medicare age to 67 is stupid.
Politically stupid. Economically stupid.

Stupid.

24. narcissists always couch stuff in their own personal terms. His
pain, hungry children and old people second. He will not be a great president but I am sure he will tell himself he will be. Or he will use his tax cut to hire someone to tell him he is.

2. Bullshit mischaracterization. "Listen to Lawrence's description of PrezO's brilliant strategizing."
Edited on Mon Jul-11-11 07:31 PM by ClarkUSA
Tune into Lawrence O'Donnell and let him explain Pres. Obama's strategy to you:

20. Four or eight years makes no difference to him
He will be well rewarded.

Apparently about the only thing Candidate Obama said that President Obama still believes is that he wasn't worried about being a one term president.

5. All they need to do to fix Medicare is raise the collection rates.
They have not been raised in 25 years.

12. Hey, you upset Clark! So you get a K&R! Seriously, you make a
great point. But it's not just Obama. Have you listened to the talking heads like Cook on the Diane Ream(I really don't know how to spell her last name, so I went with the most obnoxious just because her show has pissed me off so much lately) Show going on and on about how "everyone" acknowledges Social Security and Medicare have to be scaled back in order to save the programs? Well, even the Republicans claim that!

It's all bullshit. I'll prove it. Take the defense budget. Cut it in half. Use about a tenth of the savings to fund Medicare and it's fine. Use another 40% of the savings on, oh, I don't know, directly hiring people, maybe? And just don't replace the other 50%.

Yes, I'm playing fast and loose with the figures. But I'm damned sure the budget can be balanced if Defense is cut in half. But nobody can talk about THAT, now can they? The fact is, Medicare does not HAVE to be cut, or "adjusted," to balance the budget. Harumph.

15. Agreed!
I would add that if we could get a real accounting of the whole Homeland Security boondoggle (much of which goes unaccounted for due to "security considerations"), we could really make some serious headway on the national debt. But hell will freeze over long before we ever see that happen.

when he called our safety nets "entitlements" and talking about "job creating tax cuts"...

He sounded just like a Republican.
