The world's greatest estuary is the province of two states, Maryland and Virginia.
For decades, the Bay's health has been an issue. Both states and the feds have worked on the issue in many ways. But the approach to helping the Bay is often a contrast in how different political bents see the problems.
Bob McDonald is a teabagger who is the current governor of Virginia. Martin O'Malley is a Democrat who is sometimes mentioned as a possibility for future national office.
Within the last week or so, O'Malley has said the Bay cleanup will be expensive to do now, but even more expensive if we wait and watch it get worse. He hopes to do it now.
Meanwhile, a few miles south, McDonald blames the feds. He says the feds keep raising the bar on their definition of what a clean Bay might be.
That seems a pretty stark contrast to me.
